Project Title: Creation of Upload-Ready MBTiles for Portugal Topographic Maps
HiiKER is seeking an experienced GIS professional to create high-quality, upload-ready MBTiles packages of topographic maps for Portugal. The successful contractor will be responsible for sourcing, processing, and optimizing these maps to meet our stringent quality and technical requirements for integration into the HiiKER platform. This contract is a deliverable-based agreement, with payment upon successful completion and verification of the final MBTiles. Scope of Work: Data Sourcing & Assessment: Identify and acquire official topographic map data for Portugal, specifically focusing on 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 scales (if available). For Portugal, the data should be sourced from the Portuguese Military topographic survey maps from CIGeoE (Centro de Informação Geoespacial do Exército), formerly IGEOE (Instituto Geográfico do Exército). Prior to commencing work, assess the accessibility of the required data. This includes identifying any paywalls, licensing agreements, or other barriers to data acquisition. The contractor must notify HiiKER of any such issues and propose steps required to complete data download before beginning the conversion process. Raster Processing & Optimization: Process the acquired raster map data to generate MBTiles files. Ensure the generated MBTiles are configured for seamless integration with the Mapbox Upload API. This includes: Splitting the MBTiles into uploadable sections, with each section not exceeding 17GB in size. Ensuring the size of any individual tile within the MBTiles file does not exceed 500KB. The MBTiles must represent the maps in the highest possible quality while adhering to the size constraints. All maps must be fully legible on both web and mobile map interfaces (e.g., ensuring text, symbols, and contour lines are clear). The processed map files must have no visible borders or background colors, as they will be overlaid on global base level maps to cover areas of no coverage. The combined map files must be completely seamless when merged, ensuring no visual discontinuities or misalignments. Quality Assurance & Delivery: Perform thorough quality checks on the generated MBTiles to ensure accuracy, legibility, and adherence to all specified technical requirements. Deliver the "upload ready" MBTiles via a private Google Drive, using a naming convention to be provided by HiiKER at the project's start. Required Expertise: GIS Data Sourcing: Proven ability to research, locate, and acquire geospatial data from various national, regional, and open data sources. Raster Processing: Strong experience with raster map processing, including georeferencing, reprojection, and tile generation. GDAL Proficiency: Hands-on experience with GDAL for efficient raster data manipulation and transformation. MBTiles & Mapbox Familiarity: Experience working with Mapbox or similar mapping libraries, and specific knowledge of packaging tilesets into MBTiles format for optimal performance and upload. Quality Control: Meticulous attention to detail for ensuring map accuracy, visual quality, and seamless integration. Deliverables: Upload-ready MBTiles packages for Portugal topographic maps (1:50,000 and 1:25,000 scales, if available), delivered via Google Drive. Notification of any data access issues (e.g., paywalls, licensing) and proposed solutions prior to work commencement. Payment Terms: Payment will be made upon successful delivery and HiiKER's verification of the MBTiles files meeting all specified technical and quality requirements. Any issues related to data access or conversion that are not raised and agreed upon prior to project commencement will be the responsibility of the contractor.

Hi there,
I’m a physician in a rural state who works in hospice and palliative care. I’m hoping to build a simple but impactful tool to help patients and families find hospice agencies that serve their geographic area and what services they provide — with much more transparency than what’s currently out there. There are very few directors (like Medicare’s Hospice Compare) but they are clunky, incomplete, or don’t show service coverage in a meaningful way. I’m looking to partner with a dev to build a simple, effective web-based tool to help solve that. This MVP should: • Allow hospice agencies to draw or upload their service areas (= polygons) • Let people search by ZIP or address to see who covers them • Support filters like nonprofit status, availability of complementary therapies, medical aid in dying, etc • Give me an admin dashboard to review submissions before approving • Be scalable and cleanly designed so that we can build on it in the future I’m hoping to start with something along these lines, but am open to suggestions as I’m a doctor, not a dev: 1. Public Landing Page ⁃ Clean, modern homepage that explains the project ⁃ Brief copy: who this helps, why it matters, who we are ⁃ Button for agencies to “Add Your Hospice” ⁃ SEO-friendly (simple tags, meta descriptions, sitemap) ⁃ Placeholder or live integration for ad banners (e.g., Google AdSense) to help cover operation costs ⁃ Ideally placeable on map pages, agency profiles, or sidebar ⁃ Should be built in a modular way so it can be toggled on/off as needed 2. Hospice Submission Form ⁃ A form where agencies can submit: ⁃ Agency name, contact, website ⁃ For-profit vs. nonprofit vs government ⁃ Do they offer complementary therapies? e.g. massage, music therapy, acupuncture ⁃ Do their physicians do home visits? ⁃ Do they participate in medical aid in dying (MAID), if in a state where legal? If yes: do they prescribe or just support? ⁃ No participation vs supportive but don’t prescribe vs full participation (including prescribing) ⁃ Do they care for pediatric patients? Do they care for neonatal patients? ⁃ Do they have a board-certified hospice medical director and/or someone who completed the hospice medical director cert (HMDCB) ⁃ Approximate census size or volume (0-25, 26-100, 101-250, 250+) ⁃ 24/7 RN availability ⁃ Accreditation from JCAHO, CHAP, ACHC ⁃ Years in operation ⁃ Inpatient hospice facility ⁃ dedicated/owned vs contracted with dedicated unit vs. placement in skilled nursing ⁃ Languages spoken ⁃ Cutural or religious specialties (tribal, fiath-based) ⁃ Weekend admissions ⁃ Upload or draw a polygon on a map (using Mapbox or Leaflet) to define their service area (or optionally, enter a list of ZIP codes they serve and edit that) ⁃ Submissions are stored as “pending” until reviewed 3. Public Search & Map View ⁃ User can search by ZIP code or street address ⁃ Agencies serving that location are shown on a map ⁃ Clickable results with name, basic info, and tags ⁃ Filter bar for above criteria ⁃ Responsive design (mobile-friendly) 4. Admin Dashboard ⁃ Secure login ⁃ See submitted hospices, view/edit their info ⁃ Approve or reject listings ⁃ Quick filter to highlight entries missing data 5. Backend + Deployment (as suggested by a friend, but not married to any particular tool) ⁃ Built on Node.js or Django/Flask? ⁃ Postgres + PostGIS for storing spatial data? ⁃ Mapbox GL JS or Leaflet for frontend mapping? ⁃ Deploy to Vercel, Netlify, or lightweight AWS setup ⁃ Set up with future extensibility in mind (e.g., subscriptions, user login, analytics down the line) I’d love to build a long-term relationship with the right dev because if this takes off, we’ll plan to build out: ⁃ Hospice logins to manage/edit their own profiles ⁃ Subscription model: Monthly fee for additional features like analytics or premium listings ⁃ Analytics dashboard: Show hospices how many users viewed their area, how people filter, trends, etc. ⁃ User accounts and possibly allow for reviews/ratings later on (like a Yelp model) ⁃ State-by-state expansion, especially into CA, TX, and FL ⁃ CMS support for posting updates or news ⁃ Possible integration with hospiceCompare.gov data If this sounds interesting to you and you’ve got experience working with map-based apps and spatial data, I’d love to talk more! I care a lot about making something that’s both useful to families and transparent for providers — and I want to make sure it’s elegant, scalable, and efficient to run. I’m putting my own money into this because it’s a tool that folks doing my job don’t currently have and I’m trying to make it easier for those of us in this field! Thanks for reading! Let me know what questions you have or if you’d like to hop on a call.

We would like to hire someone (a graphic designer perhaps, or someone proficient with GIS software?) to create a layered map for us.
We have a list of project locations (in BC, Canada) along with their priority/value. We would like to map these. Then we would like to overlay on top of the locations map the locations of the traditional Indigenous territories the projects are located in. If we provide the information, are you able to put a provincial map in photoshop or use GIS software or some other tool and layer the different databases? We would want the projects overlapped with nations who have claim to the traditional territory. Client's questions:

**Job Description:**
At Sadeem, we capture critical data from our network of IoT sensors. But data is just the beginning. We're looking for a passionate geospatial expert to bring that data to life—to build the maps and dashboards that uncover the hidden story of a city's water systems. We are looking for a skilled professional to analyze data from stormwater drainage sensors and develop automated reporting systems for visualizing current conditions. Your expertise will enhance management and decision-making for stormwater systems. We are commissioning a short, paid project to find the right expert for potential future collaborations. If you have experience in data analysis and automation, we want to hear from you! What You'll Do: * Create Compelling Visualizations: Transform raw sensor data into insightful and interactive dynamic dashboards. * Conduct Spatial Analysis: Use your GIS expertise to analyze geospatial data, identify trends, map high-risk zones, and deliver clear business intelligence to our team. * Build Data-Driven Stories: Georeference sensor data and overlay it with other sources (e.g., demographic, infrastructure) to build powerful narratives that support our case studies. * Automate & Innovate: Leverage automation tools to streamline the process from data collection to final map, ensuring our insights are always current and reliable. Your Skills & Expertise: * Core GIS Proficiency: Deep experience with ESRI software (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) and/or open-source tools (QGIS, Carto). * Data & Analysis: Strong skills in spatial data analysis, data mining, georeferencing, and processing vector, raster, or even LiDAR data. * Visualization: A proven ability to create beautiful and effective digital maps, web applications, and data visualizations. * Technical Acumen: Solid skills for data automation and analysis. * Collaborative Mindset: You view projects as a partnership and are dedicated to understanding business goals to deliver solutions that exceed expectations. Project Delivery: * Timeline: 1 week from data delivery. * The Project: You will be asked to analyze a dataset from 300+ sensors across 3 cities from a recent rainfall period. The key task is to highlight the data, and the insights drived focusing on periods that significantly showcase the benefits of the system.
