About the work

We run an internal marketing-operations platform ("the Hub") that syncs advertising data — advertisers, pixels, conversion tags, and performance — out of a dozen ad platforms into a central database. The backend is a Python service layer on Google Cloud (FastAPI + Cloud Run + Cloud SQL/Postgres). We’re converting older ETL scripts that ran as scheduled jobs into individual FastAPI applications and then adding a brand-new capability: programmatically creating conversion tags/pixels directly in the ad platforms (today everything is read-only).

We're looking for a senior backend engineer to help our team deliver this in two phases.

Phase 1: Standardize & expand the integrations
* Convert our remaining ad-platform integrations from the legacy batch-job style to our established FastAPI service pattern (a reference implementation already exists for you to follow).
* Build several net-new read-sync integrations to the same pattern.
* Platforms in scope include the following, broken out by current state:
* For Review: Google Ads, Reddit, Yahoo
* Conversion Required: Meta, DV360, Campaign Manager 360, LinkedIn, Amazon Ads/DSP, The Trade Desk, Snapchat

Phase 2 — Tag-creation write endpoints
* Design and build endpoints that create conversion tags / pixels / custom conversions inside the ad platforms via their write APIs.
* Start with the 2-3 highest-value platforms, then expand. Includes handling each platform's write scopes, app-review/elevated-access requirements, and idempotency.

You must have

* Real experience with OAuth2 flows, token refresh, and rate-limit handling against third-party APIs across multiple instances

How we work
* We use Git for version control. You will work on feature branches → PRs; our team reviews, merges, and owns deployments.
* You code against dev resources (separate dev database, dev secrets, dev service accounts) and test/sandbox ad accounts.
* Daily async updates; some working-hours overlap with North America (ET) preferred.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced full stack software engineer to design and implement a cloud-based manufacturing data platform to support device production testing, quality tracking, and manufacturing analytics.

Our current manufacturing test workflow uses a Windows-based test application that logs production test data into Google Sheets. As we scale production and introduce contract manufacturing, we are transitioning to a structured cloud database architecture using Supabase and PostgreSQL.

The contractor will be responsible for establishing the backend data infrastructure, assisting with integrating existing manufacturing test software with the new platform, and developing flexible data visualization and analytics tools for engineering and manufacturing teams.

This is an opportunity to build a foundational manufacturing data system that will support production scaling, quality improvements, and future automation.

Scope of Work
1. Database Architecture & Supabase Implementation

Design and implement a production-ready database architecture using:

Supabase
PostgreSQL
REST APIs
Cloud-based authentication and security

Responsibilities include:

Define database schema for manufacturing test data
Create tables and relationships for:

About the Product

We are developing a battery-powered consumer electronics device transitioning from engineering prototypes into scaled manufacturing. The manufacturing data platform will become a critical component of our production infrastructure, supporting internal engineering teams and external manufacturing partners.

About Saka
Saka Tecnologias is an Angolan fintech company financing smartphones to informal economy workers on a PAYG (pay-as-you-go) model. We are building Saka OS — an internal intelligent operations system — to manage loan approvals, agent recruitment, portfolio monitoring, and weekly learning reports. The system integrates with the Angaza PAYG platform (REST API, OAuth 2.0) and uses the Anthropic Claude API as an analytics engine.
What we need
We are looking for an experienced technical advisor — NOT a developer for this role. We already have a shortlist of development firms/freelancers to build the system. What we need is someone to protect our investment as a non-technical founder:

Validate the system architecture before we sign with a development partner.
Review code and deliverables at each of 4 milestones during development.
Run the final acceptance test (clone repo, follow docs, run the system from scratch).
Flag risks, gaps, and red flags before we release payments.

You will be our 'technical lawyer' — working for Saka, not for the builder.
The system — what is being built

Web dashboard with role-based access (3 roles: Founder, Operations, Field).
Integration with Angaza Connects API (OAuth 2.0) — read contracts, payments, activations; write approvals and user creation.
Anthropic Claude API as structured analytics engine (NOT a chat interface) — called programmatically to evaluate loan prospects, assess agent candidates, and generate weekly learning reports.
Supabase (or equivalent) as secondary database for decisions, audit logs, and tasks.
5 automated flows: collection monitoring, loan approval, agent recruitment, PAR30 alerts, weekly learning report.
Estimated scope: ~$15k–$20k, 8–10 weeks of development.
Full technical brief available to shortlisted candidates under NDA.

What you will do — 4 engagements

Engagement 1 (before selecting a builder): Review our technical brief and the proposed architecture from candidate development partners. Help us compare proposals, flag structural problems, wrong tech choices, or missing components, and identify the strongest builder before we sign. ~3–4h. Deliverable: written feedback memo with a recommendation.
Engagement 2 (Milestone 1): Review architecture setup, repository structure, and Angaza API integration. Verify OAuth is correctly implemented, data model is sound. ~3–4h. Deliverable: pass/fail memo with issues list.
Engagement 3 (Milestones 2 & 3): Review core flows (collection monitoring, loan approval, agent recruitment, PAR30, weekly report). Verify Claude API integration is structured correctly (not brittle). ~4–5h. Deliverable: pass/fail memo.
Engagement 4 (Milestone 4 — final): Clone the repository, follow the setup documentation, and run the system from scratch without help from the builder. This is the acceptance test. If you cannot do it, the milestone is not paid. ~3–4h. Deliverable: pass/fail report.

Total estimated hours: 15–20h over 10 weeks. Remote, async work + 4 short sync calls (30–45 min each) for milestone reviews.
What we are NOT looking for

Developers who want to build this themselves — we have a builder. We need an advisor.
Generalist consultants without hands-on code review experience.
Anyone who cannot independently evaluate API integrations, database design, and AI API usage.

Requirements

5+ years of full-stack development experience (you must be able to READ and evaluate code, not just talk about it).
Proven experience with REST API integrations (OAuth 2.0 specifically).
Experience with AI APIs (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or similar) in production systems — not just prototypes.
Experience reviewing code and architecture for internal operations systems or SaaS dashboards.
Familiarity with Supabase or PostgreSQL.
Clear, written communication in English — you will deliver written memos, not just verbal feedback.
Upwork Job Success Score: 90%+ preferred. Portfolio of advisory/review work strongly preferred.

Experience with PAYG fintech systems or African market tech infrastructure.
