I’m hiring an experienced book designer to handle the interior layout and formatting of a non-fiction business book that is nearing completion. I’m looking for a clean, modern, professional layout comparable to traditionally published business books - readable, polished, and credible. Strong attention to consistency and detail is essential.
This is interior design only (no cover work).
Project Snapshot
Genre: Non-fiction / Business / Leadership
Manuscript Status: In proofreading, I should have it back by February 20, so the work would start shortly after that. I can provide the current draft if you would like to start basic layout before receiving the final text.
Launch Date: March 20
Timeline: Project should be completed within 2–3 weeks, ideally by ~March 13
Platforms: Amazon KDP, both print and digital. (Reflowable Kindle version suitable for KDP)
Size: This will be a 6”x9” book. Standard business book margins appropriate for 6x9 trim size. Word count is approximately 47,000 words.

Style Guide
I do not currently have a formal interior style guide. As part of this project, I would like a brief (1–3 page) visual style summary outlining typography choices, heading hierarchy, spacing standards, and boxed section styling so I can maintain consistency in future projects.
In general, this book should feel clean, modern, and professional. The visual style should feel at home next to contemporary business books by authors like Adam Grant or Seth Godin.
The book interior is black and white with grayscale only.
Typography/Fonts: I don’t have expertise in this area, so I will go with your judgment for basic text font, headings, subheadings, etc. I just want it to look professional and comparable to similar books in the market, so something standard like Minion Pro Regular, Garamond, etc.
The “boxed sections” should be visually distinct from main body text and use subtle grayscale background if needed.

I’m seeking an experienced Adobe InDesign professional for short-term focused tasks related to a large-format photography and essay book currently in development.
This is not a full design project. The interior layout is already underway. I am looking for:
A technical audit (ideally 1-3 hours) of my main book block InDesign file.
Professional setup and formatting of the book cover InDesign file to printer specifications
The book is a large-format, square, full-color photography + essay project with the following general specs:
Expected final trim size: 11 in x 11 in
Estimated final page count: 256–296 pages (current working file is partially started, around 50 pages).
Printed, laminated hardcover, case-wrapped
Full-color printing on high-quality 156–200 GSM paper (TBD)

Task 2 – Book Cover File Setup
Review our current InDesign cover files (front and back), and convert to clean, press-ready version.
Front cover file needs spine (final width to be calculated once page count is confirmed)
Confirm bleed and safe zones
Proper alignment for case-wrapped hardcover
Cover design itself is simple and mostly complete. This task is primarily about proper technical setup.
Requirements

We are seeking a sophisticated, self-directed sales professional who can cultivate meaningful industry relationships, confidently communicate investment levels, and close aligned high-ticket projects while protecting brand positioning.

What You Will Do
• Develop and nurture relationships with interior designers, architects, and custom builders
• Proactively generate qualified opportunities, not simply respond to inbound inquiries
