I'm developing a biofeedback wellness device — a handheld sphere that pulses warm light in sync with the user's heartbeat via a PPG sensor. I'm looking for an experienced PCB designer to design a compact, low-power circuit board that fits inside a 100mm diameter sphere enclosure.

About the device:
The sphere is a sealed wireless object with no external ports. It charges wirelessly via Qi when resting on a base puck. A PPG sensor reads the user's heartbeat through the sphere wall. Two warm white LEDs pulse with the heartbeat. A single tactile button on the sphere surface turns the device on and off. Everything is self-contained inside the sphere — no cables, no ports, no visible electronics.

The board:
The PCB sits inside the sphere at the equator zone. Shape is open — circular, rectangular, or rectilinear — but must fit within the sphere interior diameter of approximately 88–90mm while leaving as much open space as possible for light to pass between the upper and lower hemispheres. Minimising light blockage is a key design consideration. I'm open to your recommendation on the best shape for this constraint. I will also be designing a transparent plastic scaffolding to hold any electronic components inside the sphere.

Components to integrate:

Seeed XIAO ESP32C3 — main microcontroller, handles PPG reading, LED control, BLE, WiFi, LiPo charging, OTA firmware updates
MAX30102 — PPG heart rate sensor, must be positioned at the board edge facing radially outward toward the sphere wall at a specific clock position to align with the light pipe window in the sphere
Two WS2812B NeoPixel LED connection points — LEDs sit on short wire leads extending into each hemisphere, connection points on board
Tactile switch — must be positioned at the board edge facing radially outward at a specific clock position to align with the oval button indent in the sphere wall

All necessary passive components — decoupling capacitors, resistors, protection circuits

Key design constraints:
The MAX30102 sensor and tactile switch must be at specific radial positions on the board edge — exact positions to be determined collaboratively based on sphere geometry. These are hard positional constraints driven by the mechanical design.
No USB-C port on the board — the XIAO's USB-C port does not need to align with any sphere wall opening. Power comes entirely from Qi charging. Programming is via OTA firmware updates over WiFi after initial setup.
BLE antenna clearance — the XIAO's antenna must have adequate clearance from the sphere wall and other metal components. Your recommendation on antenna orientation and placement welcome.
Low power design — the device runs on a 300mAh LiPo and needs to last several hours of continuous use. Power management recommendations welcome.

Deliverables:
Complete Gerber files ready for JLCPCB manufacture and assembly. Full bill of materials with LCSC part numbers where possible for JLCPCB component sourcing. Precise dimensional drawing of the completed board showing exact positions and heights of all components — this drawing will be used as the input brief for the mechanical enclosure designer. Design for manufacture review noting any assembly considerations. One revision cycle included.

Manufacturing target:
Prototype run of 3–5 boards at JLCPCB for testing and validation. Production run of 100-200 units at a PCB assembly house — files should be designed with production manufacture in mind from the start.

About the project:
This is an independent product development project with a planned Kickstarter launch. The device sits at the intersection of neuroscience, wellness, and considered product design. The designer will be credited in product documentation and the Kickstarter campaign if desired. This is the first of what will be a small product line of biofeedback wellness objects.

01 — PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Ask
AMPd Sports needs a polished, production-ready logo system. The primary deliverable is a refined vector version of the existing logo — cleaner, tighter, better. Secondary deliverable is a suite of icon/monogram treatments for use in digital product contexts where the full wordmark doesn't fit.

This is moreso a refinement brief, not a redesign brief.

The existing logo has strong bones — the inline letter style, the yellow outer stroke, the neon interior line treatment, the diagonal slash in the A. The job is to lock that in with vector precision, clean up inconsistent stroke weights, and make it production-ready across all sizes and surfaces. Specifically, the A and the M (including top left flag treatment) should maintain their overall shapes/angles.

02 — EXISTING LOGO
What We Have
The current logo is a raster PNG (attached). It establishes the right direction — the reference file should be treated as the creative direction, not the final output.

What Works
– The compressed, bold letterform style — all caps, slightly extended, with that inline double-stroke construction
– Yellow outer stroke/fill with dark charcoal inner body on each letter
– White inner stroke lines that create the neon/lit effect — this is core to the brand identity
– The diagonal slash through the A — distinctive, energetic, functions as a proto-icon
– Subscript 'd' — gives the wordmark a unique rhythm

What Needs Work
– Stroke weights are inconsistent across letters — the inner white lines vary in thickness and don't feel systematized
– Letter construction geometry needs tightening — some corners and joins feel rough at scale
– The overall lockup needs to feel more engineered and intentional, less hand-approximated
– SPORTS typography treatment is open for exploration — the current version works but we want to see at least one alternative
– The neon blur/glow on inner lines needs to be defined as a systematic effect, not a one-off filter

03 — DELIVERABLES
What We Need

Deliverable 1: Refined Primary Lockup
A direct vector update of the existing logo. Same structure, same color system, same energy — executed with precision.

Specifications
1. Vector format (AI or SVG master)
2. Consistent stroke weight system — define 2–3 line weights and apply systematically across all letters
3. Neon/glow effect defined as a reusable graphic style (not a raster filter)
4. AMPd wordmark + SPORTS sub-lockup as one unified file

Deliverable 2: Background Variations
The refined lockup adapted for each approved background. No creative deviation — just correct color inversion per surface.

– Dark / Black (#1A1A1A or #0D0D0D) — Primary. Full color with neon glow active.
– Charcoal (#252525) — Same as primary, neon glow slightly reduced.
– White (#FFFFFF) — Yellow shifts to #E6B800 for contrast. Neon glow off or very subtle.
– Light Grey (#E5E5E5) — Same as white treatment.
– Brand Yellow (#FFD21F) — Full color inversion: dark letters with yellow inner body, no glow.

Deliverable 3: Icon / Monogram Treatments
We want to explore standalone mark options for use in app icons, profile images, watermarks, and small-format digital contexts. The wordmark doesn't work below ~80px — we need a mark that does.

We are open to creative direction here. Starting points to explore:

– The A-mark — the diagonal slash 'A' refined as a standalone icon, possibly in a containing shape (circle, rounded square, shield)
– A bolt/lightning treatment derived from the diagonal slash motif — more abstract, more app-icon friendly
– A stacked or compact AMPd lockup — all four letters compressed into a near-square format
– Any other direction the designer feels serves the brand personality

Deliver at least 2–3 icon concepts, refined to a level where we can evaluate direction. Final chosen mark to be delivered in all background variations matching the primary lockup.

Deliverable 4: SPORTS Typography Exploration
The current SPORTS treatment (outlined/inline letterforms with flanking rules) works. We're open to a different approach if it strengthens the overall lockup. Please present:

– Option A: Refined version of the current treatment — cleaner, better weight balance relative to the wordmark
– Option B: At least one alternative typographic treatment for SPORTS — could be a different font, weight, tracking, or layout relationship to the AMPd wordmark
Note: SPORTS should always read as subordinate to AMPd — smaller, lighter, or less visually dominant.

Tonal Reference

The neon quality is important: it should feel like the interior of the letters is lit from within — not a harsh LED, more like the warm glow of a stadium sign. This is created through the white inner stroke lines and the blur/glow treatment on dark backgrounds.
