I have a completed paperback book that is already formatted and published for Amazon KDP at 7 x 10 inches. I now need this same book reformatted to meet Lulu’s print requirements.

The core design and layout are already done; this is a conversion / technical reformatting project, not a full redesign.

Scope of Work:

Take my existing KDP-ready interior file (7 x 10) and:
Adjust page setup to comply with Lulu’s 7 x 10 trim size requirements.
Correct and/or add bleed as needed for Lulu.
Adjust margins, gutter, and safety areas so text and graphics fall within Lulu’s safe zones.
Ensure a clean, professional print-ready PDF for Lulu (no crop marks, all fonts embedded, images at proper resolution, no security/passwords).

We are seeking a highly skilled book designer to bring our existing visual concept to life. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both interior layout design and cover production. You will collaborate closely with our creative team to ensure that the final product aligns with our vision and meets industry standards. I. Overview: We are turning an existing 1980s style primary bed-bathroom into a modern primary bed-bath suite. We will be adding 140 sf from an adjacent bedroom (we do not use) into the new primary bed-bath suite. The work is exclusively internal; no outward expansion of the house.

2. Dimensions: The attached proposed draft layout (that we want redone) has a scale of 1 inch to 48 inches but we don't have actual measurements. The elevations in the four rooms that will be incorporated into a new suite are as follows:

i). Height in the existing closet that will be removed and incorporated into Master bedroom: 8 feet. (See attached Notes for more detail).

ii) Height in the Existing Master Bedroom: (The height varies because the ceiling in this room is “coffered”): 11 feet at the center.

iii) Height in the Existing Master Bathroom: 9 feet

iv) Height in the Existing Adjacent Bedroom (that will be incorporated into the master bed-bath “suite): 8 feet

3. Scope: We are looking for you to:

A) Modify the existing and proposed plans (scale is 1 inch to 48 inches) into a better lay-out in terms of flow and spacing. We also encourage you to start over with a fresh approach if needed. We want a plan that is sufficiently accurate to obtain an accurate bid from a contractor that includes all fixtures and finishes listed below, electrical outlets, switches and lights and plumbing;

B) We also need up to five 3D photo renditions of your different proposed lay outs--allow for multiple redrafts to get it right; a 30 second 3D “virtual tour” so we can see the proposed flow and placement of fixtures and finishes as if we are walking through the rooms. We don't visualize well from 2D plans.

C) Optional: If you have the background and skill set in design, help us pick out fixtures and finishes and manufactures. We have tried doing this "AI" with limited results.
**

4. Finishes or fixtures to include in your drawing and virtual tour:

a) Either a wet room consisting of a stand-alone bathtub and a large walk-in shower--large enough for 2 people-- and a bench. Alternatively, include the same fixtures (Bathtub, Large Walk-in Shower etc.) but without a glass enclosure or "wetroom. Either way the tub must face the existing west window in the existing master bathroom; b) an 84-inch double-sink vanity near the wet room; c) either 1 or 2 tower cabinets for medicine, extra towels, etc This vanity must be either near to, or perpendicular to, the west window; d) a "make-up" table & mirror for my wife to do lipstick etc.; e) either 1 or 2 tower cabinets on the side of the vanity to store medicine, extra towels, etc.; f) towel racks or hooks for two bathrobes; g) a separate WC with ONE integrated toilet/bidet; g) and a walk-in closet for two people with entry access from the master bedroom--not from the bathroom where it is humid; h) the plan should include lights, plumbing and electrical switches and outlets.

5. Revisions Needed & Issues with First Draft Proposed Lay-out (attached below):

A) Length of the Vanity: The proposed vanity as drawn (consisting of two sinks, a very long countertop, an area in the middle for my wife to do her make-up, and two floor- to- ceiling cabinets) appears approximately 11 feet (unless I’m misinterpreting the scale). Instead, we would like a 7-foot vanity with two sinks; a cabinet(s) for extra towels; and a separate table, mirror and chair for my wife to do her make-up. If it is all combined in one 11 ft long counter-top, it will be far too long for our taste and look too commercial.

B) Wet-Room or Traditional Bath Lay-out?: We would like help figuring out if the space would be better optimized by building a "Wetroom" that incorporates a stand-alone tub, a large walk-in shower and a bench--all in one room--like a sauna, facing the window in the existing master bathroom. Or, would the space be better utilized with a traditional bathroom layout with no Wetroom?

C) Toilet-Water Closet (WC): The proposed bathroom will be placed in what is currently an adjacent bedroom about 140 sf. The proposed WC is 6 feet by 4 feet and it has two toilets—crazy! Today bidet and toilets are INTEGRATED in 1 unit. We just want 1 toilet spaced properly in front of the North window. See Notes attached with Diagram. And who needs such a large bathroom?

D) Internal Door Placement: The placement of the three internal doors or openings appear too close together in terms of flow and spacing for our taste. This includes the door from the bathroom to the walk-in closet; the door from the bathroom to the separate toilet; and the doorway from the bedroom to bathroom.

E) Placement of the Walk-in Closet in relation to the toilette and hallway: Under the current proposed design, the new two person walk-in closet will be on the south half of the existing adjacent bedroom. One must walk thru the bedroom & bath to get to the closet. Can you align the walk-in closet entry so it can be accessed two ways: 1) from the master bedroom and 2) from the hallway in case we want to quickly grab a coat? (this last request is not major issue but it would be a nice plus).

6. Tools: We have attached for you: a) a digital copy of the existing space and a preliminary layout of the proposed space (once the rooms are combined with the adjacent bedroom to create a master bedroom suite).b) also find a separate page of proposed revisions and a marked-up diagram with questions. Please feel free to either improve the proposed layout or create a completely fresh layout; c) photos of the existing windows for each room to make your renditions realistic.

I am preparing to publish, via Amazon, a novel of some 250,000 words, titled simply “Einstein”, though it is not about Al. I need a front cover illustration, back cover with text only, and spine (for the paperback edition). I also need someone to prepare the text for publication both as an ebook and a paperback. The book will be text only, with a table of contents, and no illustrations.
I have a very specific image in mind for the cover. I see the book itself, front, back, and spine, as “soft black” with white text and image—probably off white, so as to soften the black/white contrast.
The image should show a young man at a computer, with the back of the computer monitor facing us, and the young man’s face shown full front rather than profile. To simplify matters, the computer modern should be a modern flat screen rather than the old cathode models, though the novel actually takes place in the late 1990s early 2000s. The young man should look like an “intense young genius”, with light-colored, longish, disheveled hair, not overly dramatic, somewhat overweight, no glasses, with a weakish chin half-covered with a three-day growth of sparse, light-colored beard. The eyebrows should be very light as well, because they’re supposed to be blond.
Surrounding him is the outline of the profile of an attractive young woman, with her face to the right, slightly upturned. She has short, dark hair. This should be drawn so as not to obscure the drawing of the young man. This outline could be repeated, more softly, on the back cover, omitting the picture of the young man.
The front cover text should simply be “EINSTEIN” in all caps with “A Novel by Alan Vanneman” in large and small caps underneath it.
The spine should have the same text run horizontally along the spine, so that it can be read most easily when the book is resting on its side.
The book’s dimensions should be 6x9, unless this would make the book too thick, in which case the dimensions could go up a notch. The paper should be off-white or ivory, with Times New Roman font. Because I have old eyes I like 12-point type.
This will the ninth book I have published via Amazon. All of them can be found on my author’s page. (There is, fortunately, only one Alan Vanneman listed.) I have prepared both the back cover text and the incidental information for the interior of the book. The full manuscript will be ready in less than two weeks.

Posted Budget is an initial place holder. Final price will be agreed after scope and milestone alignment.
