Long-term, we are seeking two to four full-time 3D artists. These roles may be generalists, or specialists in exclusively modeling or texturing / material creation.
Short-term, we are looking to engage a few highly talented 3D Artists in some small projects to both help us get our kickstarter project launched, and to test our compatibility for the full-time positions.
The 3D models will need to be well-optimized for real-time. There will be enough time to do good work, but not enough for extensive texture painting or sculpting to produce normal maps, etc. This work requires efficient (both in terms of time and poly count) hard-surface modeling skills and will be best suited to someone with ample experience in the video game industry.

Here's the first project:
- We have a spaceship hull which is sliced to show three decks.
- The interior does not need work, the hull does not need work.
- We need greeble, structural detailing added in some gaps between the hull and the interior decks.
- There is no concept art, you need to bring some creativity to it.
- These open hulls will be viewed from a distance, from above & 3/4 views, so close-up detail is not required.
- All of the geometry created needs to use one PBR material & set of textures.
- There isn't time or need for texture painting or baking. The right approach will be to create a texture map with some details (grills, panels, etc.) which can be quickly mapped onto the various geometry to add some detail which will look convincing enough from a distance.
- There isn't a specific poly target, but we need the desired result to be achieved as optimally as possible.
- The time limit is 8 hours.
Once we have signed an NDA, we'll share renders of the ship in its current state.
To be direct and save us both time, here are some reasons to NOT apply:
- Your portfolio is exclusively or largely sculpting work, organic or character focused.
- Your portfolio contains one ship, one weapon, one character, a couple props. We need to see skill and proven efficiency / productivity, not a few hobby projects.
- Your work isn't mostly sci-fi. We need sci-fi specialists.
- Your samples are presented as randomly named files in a google folder.
- You're not going to bother providing notes on your samples to make it clear what your contribution was.
- You use AI in your work or your communications. We have a 100% no AI policy.
If you're passionate about sci-fi, and very good at producing game-ready sci-fi models, you will love this and the projects that will follow.

I left a small amount of the instruction intentionally ambiguous to explore compatibility. It is often not possible or practical to be explicit on every facet of a project, some small degree of interpretation is required, particularly on a first project while getting acquainted. When both parties have a similar interpretation in these ambiguous details, that is good compatibility. When significant misinterpretation occurs, that can make the work more difficult.
We were not well-aligned to work together in this regard and Volodymyr become quickly frustrated with the communication & need for revision. This project was intended as an opportunity to explore working together and the revisions were to establish clarity on this small trial ahead of a much larger ongoing contract. Volodymyr treated the project as a deliverable rather than a training opportunity and was quickly frustrated by the back & forth.
I'm paying him fully for his effort. I believe Volodymyr may be a good modeler on projects where the specifications are very precise, there is no room for interpretation and an agreed upon fixed limit to revisions.

Revisions were subsequently required, but Jarek responded poorly to constructive feedback and refused to revise the art, declaring the project "complete." The vector assets were produced in such a way that they were not usable in flash (far too many superfluous layers and masks), and Jarek was not cooperative in finding a solution.
Jarek, you need to appreciate that there is a difference between optimization of vector artwork and scope creep. It is possible, and sometimes necessary, to produce vector art with simpler fills and strokes, without masks and extensive layers. A few of the symbols you re-created were very well done, others were not. We all, as designers, need to work on not having a strong ego reaction when our first submissions do not hit the mark.
I would much rather negotiate a change in the budget if a contractor feels he/she misunderstood the scope. I would never re-hire a contractor who states that the job is "finished" and refuses to see the work through when it's both not yet visually consistent, and needs to be optimized to meet the technical requirements.
Jarek was paid, but most of the work was not usable.
I would not work with Jarek again, though I think his adobe illustrator skills are fine, he currently lacks consistency, maturity and reliability.

Recently, I was invited to a Job on UpWork, and I decided to go with it to grow my profile. The client’s location shown is Islamabad but his name is Anthon Clark.
At first, I presaged that I might be scammed, but I trusted him and accepted to do LinkedIn Company & Client Profile for 10$ only.
After 2 days of hectic work & finishing it, I submitted the work for review & payment approval. After receiving the work, he was no longer replying to me. And I was unable to get the labour of my work. He might’ve arisen the issue that my work couldn’t have satisfied him (but he hadn’t asked for any revision).
Also, the LinkedIn Profile of the person I developed is from Islamabad, which means he is the same person and saying to me that he was assigned to place the order for his boss.
Can you please cross-check by asking for his NIC/Passport to see if he’s really Anthon Clark. Also, please do something to have my contract completed & payment released to me!
