Hi,

I work for a sound system manufacturer and from time to time are required to build stadiums and then propose a sound system for these stadiums. Our simulation software requires a sketchup model to be build from 2D CAD drawings (sometimes PDF). However, this skillset is not our expertise and can take us quite long to build. Hence, I am on upwork looking for options. The requirements are not as complex as some of your interior design projects. Visuals are not considered at all. Only faces or surfaces need to be built. We have a sketchup plugin which then exports these faces to our simulation software and then we would propose a sound system. The sketchup models would then need to be closed (no holes) so that the simulation software can do its calculations.

I would like to ask:

1. How do you charge for something like this? If it is per hour how would I know what is a suitable/justifiable number of hours?

Part-time engineering co-developer for a CO₂ energy storage gasholder system

About the role
HeroX AirDomes manufactures and installs air-supported dome structures for sports facilities. PowerDome is a new business line applying that membrane dome expertise to a different purpose: a large-volume, low-pressure CO₂ gasholder serving as the gas store in a Compressed CO₂ Energy Storage (CCES) closed-loop thermodynamic system. The target pilot unit is 2.5 MW / 10 MWh EXA Energy / Broadwell (China). Round-trip efficiency target is 70% or better.

We are looking for a part-time technical co-developer and engineering advisor to work alongside the project developer, who is acting as System Architect, to design, model, and validate the system. The immediate objective is a bankable asset package and FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) study scope document capable of supporting a $500K–$1M fundraise. This is a fractional, project-based engagement, not a full-time position, but can became one.

What you'll do

Build and iterate the thermodynamic process model for the CCES cycle in DWSIM, HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or equivalent simulation software — covering the full state-point sequence from ~1 bar gaseous CO₂ through intercooled compression to ~75–100 bar liquid storage and back through turboexpansion.

Develop the Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) for all four core subsystems: the CO₂ dome gasholder, the intercooled compressor train, the liquid CO₂ high-pressure storage system, and the Thermal Energy Storage (TES) loop.

Size and specify key equipment items — compressors, turboexpanders, heat exchangers, and control valves — and produce equipment datasheets and a basis-of-design document suitable for FEED-stage review.

Evaluate and respond to vendor RFI submissions from suppliers including MAN Energy, Atlas Copco, Siemens Energy, Baker Hughes, Chart Industries, and CIMC Enric; identify gaps and flag technical risks.

I have a nearly finished, high-fidelity digital twin of an autonomous sorting line that still needs a senior Automation / Mechatronics touch before it can be signed off for commissioning. The core bridge between the KUKA KR 180 R3500 ultra, our multi-stage conveyors and all proximity sensors is already built and running; kinematics, basic I/O mapping and initial motion programs are proven in simulation.

What remains is the polish and performance work:

• Optimise the existing PLC-level logic and motion sequences for smoother throughput and cycle-time reduction.
• Integrate a handful of new field devices (additional sensors and a diverter gate) into both the real PLC and the twin.
• Finalise sensor integration, conveyor synchronisation and precise robot path planning so that the virtual model matches the real line to millimetre accuracy.

I am looking for a SketchUp/CAD modeler to prepare a clean, lightweight SketchUp model for architectural acoustic simulation.

This project is for a university gymnasium / sports hall with complex architectural geometry. The final model will be used mainly in a CATT-Acoustic workflow, not for rendering or visual presentation.

This is not a photorealistic rendering job. The goal is to create simplified, accurate, and lightweight acoustic simulation geometry.
