## The short version

I have a complete, locked pre-production package for a 60-minute AI-generated feature film: a faithful adaptation of H.G. Wells' *The War of the Worlds*, set in the present day. Beat sheet, shot script, directing canon, character and creature canon, camera handbook, asset list — all written and approved.

What I don't have is the time to produce it.

I'm looking for one AI filmmaker to take the locked documents and make the film, act by act, at a high standard. You won't be inventing the story, the structure, the look or the packaging. You'll be executing a very specific brief with real craft, and iterating with me on every act until it's right.

## What the project is

A 60-minute creature/disaster feature — an invasion film. Faithful to the 1898 novel rather than to any of the film adaptations, with the narrator inverted into a woman as the lead. Photoreal, cinematic, largely without dialogue, built to be understood visually and subtitled into sixteen languages.

Five acts of roughly twelve minutes each. Roughly 250–300 authored beats, generated as 10–15 second clips and assembled into a timeline. You do not need to know the novel — everything you need is in the documents, including the 1906 public-domain illustrations that define the machine design.

## What you'll be given (all locked, nothing to invent)

- **A ~300-row beat sheet**: every beat with its story function, performance action, camera and staging intention, continuity state, geography, gauges, generation strategy, reference assets and packaging flags.
- **A production book**: five-act shot script, the four story ledgers, canon sheets for the lead, the creature and the machines, the on-screen-text list, a risk register.
- **A directorial handbook**: per-act camera grammar — exactly which shot sizes, heights, moves and framings each act uses, with the reference films they come from and the prompt language to execute them.
- **A production strategy document**: the prompt contract, the guard structure, the identity and continuity rules, and a 45-entry correction ledger of failure modes and their fixes, built over five previous films.
- **Locked character and creature references**: ten permanent reference assets, already generated and approved.

The documents are unusually complete. Previous films made on this system went from beat sheet to finished picture with almost no rerolls because the prompts are structured and the references are locked.

## What you'll do

- Generate the film clip by clip from the beat sheet, act by act, using the locked references and the prompt contract.
- Assemble each act on a timeline (I use Filmora; Resolve, Premiere or CapCut are all fine) — trim, sequence, cut to the intended edit points.
- Add or vary beats where the material needs it. Some of the best moments on previous films came from a shot that wasn't in the plan. You'll have room for that, within the canon.
- Sound: diegetic design and a licensed score (I'll supply the library). No generated music.
- Deliver each act as a scored, assembled cut for review, then take one round of notes per act.
- Keep a simple production log: accepted prompt, generation count, usable seconds, cost — the template is provided.

## How we'll work

**Act by act.** You deliver Act I, we review it, we fix it, and only then do you start Act II. Each act is reviewed by me and by two experienced screenwriters who act as audience proxies — their notes come back as timestamps (where it sags, what's unclear, what should be a look instead of a line). You get one clear round of notes per act, not a drip of opinions.

This means you can't disappear for two months and come back with a film. It also means you're never guessing, and you'll know by the end of Act I exactly what "right" looks like on this project.

## Tools

Generation is on **fal.ai** (MiniMax, Kling, Flux — I'll cover all generation costs and give you access). If you prefer a different stack and can prove it holds character identity across 300 clips, make the case — but the reference assets are built for this one.

## What I'm looking for

**Essential**
- A portfolio of AI-generated narrative work — not showreels or montages. I want to see a story you told, with the same character recognisable in multiple shots.
- Real editing ability. Half this job is the timeline: knowing that a 15-second generation gives you four usable seconds, and which four.
- Comfort working from a detailed brief. This is an execution role with craft in it, not an authorship role. If you need creative control of the story to be interested, this isn't your project.
- Reliability across a long project, and the discipline to keep continuity across hundreds of clips.

**Nice to have**
- Experience with long-form (30+ minutes) rather than shorts.
- Sound design.
- Any familiarity with Wells, classic sci-fi, or the creature/disaster genre — helpful, not required.

**Not required**
- Knowledge of the novel. It's a 128-year-old book and the documents tell you everything.
- Screenwriting. That's done.

I’m looking for a screenwriter to help me finish off a short script I’ve had in the works for a little while now. It’s a character-driven psychological dark fantasy/horror with a touch of romance, currently sitting at around 14 pages, with 16 pages being the ideal target.

This isn’t a Page One rewrite. I already have the story, a good deal of the script, and a number of scenes and plot points that I for sure want to keep. Recently I went back over the earlier draft and cut out a few scenes that no longer fit with the direction I'm pursuing, and as a result there are now a few gaps that have to be filled in. I have some ideas regarding those gaps, while others are deliberately open to be played with.

For the most part, this is a non-dialogue story, with narration being the only spoken element I’m currently considering. So I’m particularly interested in someone comfortable with visual storytelling and character development without relying heavily on dialogue.

The budget is $175, reflecting the fact that this isn’t a complete rewrite from scratch. Ideally, I’d like the required scenes and story beats completed within a week. I’m planning to produce and shoot the film in December as a backup project after another production had to be pushed into the new year, so I’m working to a fairly tight schedule.

The material I provide will give you a good sense of the characters and direction of the story, and I’ll discuss the full idea and what I’m hoping to achieve with the successful applicant. I’m much more of a storyteller than a writer myself, which is why I’m looking for someone who can help turn what’s already there into something properly finished. That, and the day job occasionally leaves me too exhausted to concentrate come the evening.
