On multiple occasions, I offered to mutually end the agreement over several weeks but Kannie insisted they wanted to continue. Despite this, at the three-month mark, after I'd only received payment for one month's work (I'm on a retainer basis), they decided to terminate the contract.
Additionally, Kannie expressed dissatisfaction with one of the creators' work and subsequently did not pay the creator fully. This placed me in a very uncomfortable situation, resulting in issues with both the creator and the platform I used to find them. As a consequence, I now face a potential ban from that platform which is crucial for my work.

Role Description
ECD is currently hiring a Freelance Conversion Copywriter to support ongoing client work across email marketing, SMS campaigns, and paid advertising.
This role is ideal for experienced freelance writers who can deliver sharp, decision-oriented copy with strong direct-response fundamentals. Freelancers at ECD are expected to operate with reliability, urgency, and clear communication. This is not an open-ended creative role. It is structured, conversion-focused production work.
Responsibilities
- Write persuasive marketing copy for:
- Promotional email campaigns
- SMS messaging
- Paid social ad variations
- Short-form e-commerce website copy as needed
- Develop hooks, angles, and value framing that move readers toward action
- Write with buyer psychology, urgency, and friction removal in mind
- Deliver clean drafts that require minimal restructuring
- Manage assigned timelines independently and communicate early if clarification is needed
- Revise efficiently when feedback is provided and incorporate learnings quickly
Qualifications
- Proven experience writing conversion-focused copy for e-commerce or B2C brands
- Strong understanding of direct-response principles (hooks, urgency, objection handling)
- Ability to produce intentional, performance-aware copy without filler
- Reliable deadline ownership
- Proactive communication and follow-through are mandatory in this role
- Agency experience is a strong plus
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with e-commerce, B2C trends, and conversion-focused strategies is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree is a plus, but not required

The original scope was to get data from Klaviyo through Windsor (data extraction tool) into their existing Looker dashboard and it was completed. However, their Windsor was poorly configurated and the API pulls were wrong, also the BigQuery model was not in best practice standards and thus, there were several work arounds in their Looker dashboard. Furthermore, there was an issue in Klaviyo and Windsor, where they applied different filters and therefore data in the Looker dashboard did not match completely with data in Klaviyo platform. This was discovered under a thorough troubleshooting where I worked with their CMO closely. I escalated the issue to Klaviyo Support and kept conversation to find out what was going on, I wasn't paid for that final day. I truly wish them the best, but solving these issues require investing hours into troubleshooting, which sometimes goes beyond original scope.

Looking for a copywriter who understands why people buy, not just how to write words.
This role is for someone who thinks in buyer psychology, intent, and motivation. You should be able to write copy that feels obvious, clear, and persuasive — not hypey or “marketing-ish.”
Most of the work will be email copy for ecom and DTC brands. Campaigns, flows, evergreen, and plain-text style emails. Some landing page and sales copy as well.
You should be comfortable using psychological drivers like desire, fear, identity, certainty, and objection-handling. Every sentence should have a reason to exist.
You don’t need to be flashy. You do need to be able to explain why you wrote something and what behavior it’s designed to trigger.
This is ongoing freelance work with clear briefs and repeat projects. Paid per project or retainer depending on fit and availability.
Experience with ecom or DTC is a plus. A background or strong interest in psychology, persuasion, or behavioral science is a big plus.
This is not a fit if you rely on buzzwords, generic frameworks, or filler copy. It’s also not a fit if you miss deadlines or need constant direction.

It took him an extra 2 weeks than he said it would and he billed me for an extra $100 than we agreed (I didn't realise until the payment came out of my bank). I requested a refund back from Jaffer and after 10 days I received only $70 back. I asked Jaffer 3 times to refund the full amount he overcharged me, to which he then provided a number of excuses as to why he can't. After the 3rd time asking he began ignoring my request. I understand mistakes happen but Jaffer did not do everything he could to ensure I received the extra money he charged me for, he made me ask multiple times, and provided a number of excuses - and I still haven't received the refund from the money he took. I'm tired of asking and want to move on from this contract so I've ended it and he's keeping the extra money he charged. On top of all that, he didn't even fulfil the full project, I've cut it short because I don't want to message him anymore.
I would not recommend Jaffer at all - he sounds professional and polite in messages but his service does not reflect that. He's wasted far too much of my time, including writing this lengthy negative review which I never do but I'm extremely disappointed with the level of disrespect I've been subjected to. Plenty of other reliable freelancers to choose from than this guy.

I always prioritize delivering high-quality footage and am proactive in addressing any concerns—offering revisions promptly if needed to ensure clients are fully satisfied. In this case, the final deliverables were submitted on July 22, 2025. The client provided no feedback, revision requests, or communication at any point during or after delivery. Three months later, on October 22nd, they unilaterally requested a full refund without explanation. Since receiving the request, I have reached out multiple times via Upwork messages to understand any potential issues so that I can offer immediate resolutions, including revisions or additional support. The client has not responded to any of these messages. Upwork's Fixed-Price Protection policy requires clients to communicate concerns and allow reasonable time for fixes before escalating to a refund, especially within a timely manner post-delivery. A refund request after three months of silence, with no prior feedback or engagement, does not align with these guidelines or standard professional practices. I respectfully request that this refund be denied, as the work was completed, delivered, and accepted without objection at the time.

We’re looking for an experienced Email Marketing Manager to take ownership of email strategy and execution for the Big Sky Country Fair, a large-scale live events and concert series in Montana featuring nationally recognized music and entertainment.
This role is focused on driving ticket sales and engagement through smart, well-timed email campaigns tied to artist announcements, on-sale dates, event reminders, and last-minute pushes. You’ll work directly with our internal team and have clear ownership over planning, execution, and optimization, not just sending emails, but thinking strategically about how email fits into the full marketing mix.
This is not a one-off project. We’re looking for someone we can rely on throughout the fair cycle and potentially across future events.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
You’ll own the email marketing channel end-to-end for the Big Sky Country Fair. That includes building and managing campaign calendars around artist announcements and ticket on-sales, writing and/or coordinating compelling email copy, setting up and deploying campaigns, segmenting lists for relevance, and monitoring performance to improve open rates, click-through rates, and ticket conversions. You’ll also collaborate closely with our paid media and events teams to ensure messaging is aligned across channels.
What We’re Looking For:
You should have proven experience managing email marketing for events, concerts, festivals, or ticketed experiences, and understand how urgency, timing, and creative affect sales. You’re organized, proactive, and comfortable managing a high-visibility account with real revenue impact. Experience with platforms like Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot, or similar is required, and you should be comfortable working from a strategy while also executing quickly.
Nice to Have (but Not Required):
Experience working with live entertainment, festivals, fairs, or multi-event calendars. Familiarity with integrating email campaigns with paid social and paid search efforts. Comfort reviewing analytics and making data-driven recommendations.
Engagement Details:
This is a freelance role with flexible hours, but responsiveness and reliability are critical around key announcement and on-sale dates. There is strong potential for ongoing work beyond this account if it’s a good fit.
