We had to hire another engineer to fix everything he did incorrectly. The design was so flawed the next engineer could only do so much without having to redo the entire thing. Overall the design was flawed and would never work in the real world.

They agreed to a budget and then did not stick to it. They kept changing the project scope by playing with the different interpretations of the words in the agreement. The team did not understand the technology or scope well & coded the project wrong. They put the blame on us, but fortunately, we have sent them the detailed sample outcome for that particular requirement well before the scoping of the project, hence they could not deny.
But that was of no use, as they did not work on it either. They kept delaying the project intentionally until i reached a point, wherein i lost the interest in the project. Now last month, they cancelled the project without letting me know or asking me assuming i will forget to not write a feedback.
I dont like to provide negative feedback and always provide 5 stars even though they do a poor job, but this team possess mediocre knowledge and very low integrity. They are not concerned with project success, but care only about billable hours.
Despite having a fixed fee contract, they kept on billing me for several hours even though they were fixing the product they partially built. They did not take the ownership of their mistake, and wanted to bill me for fixing their mistakes.
Only an expert developer who understands technology well and has time to continue guiding them, consistent monitor the project, scope etc can get the work done. You need to be vigil all the time on your project and upwork hours.

He hired me for a 60 minute consultation. During the call I went over an analysis I did of his site. This was not something I was required to do, but I went out of my way to do it. It showed him why his site was doing so poorly in terms of SEO and how to fix it. He told me that this was not what he was expecting during the call. When I asked him what he was expecting, he told me that he thought I was going to train his SEO team in India on how to do high quality work. I explained to him that's not what this call was about. He then got upset and ended the call. I will not be working with this client again and wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

We encountered significant issues with this freelancer. Due to a temporary credit card issue, we allowed him to manually log hours, which he unfortunately exploited without informing us or providing valid reasons. He logged a total of 66 hours, resulting in financial loss and eroding our trust.
Despite providing clear evidence, including conversations with my assistant, it became apparent that he did not inform us of using a different dialer, leading to missing call logs. The tracked hours showed no mouse activity and repeated screenshots, raising further concerns.
We opened a mediation case with Upwork and even proposed a resolution if he was unwilling to provide a refund. However, the freelancer refused and continued to defend claims he could not substantiate. This lack of accountability, combined with his refusal to take responsibility, was deeply frustrating.
Please be very careful when working with people like him. Our experience was extremely disappointing.
