We are seeking a talented botanical watercolor illustrator to create original flower illustrations for Meaningful Art Co., an art and gift brand centered around beautiful artwork and the stories and meaning behind it.
We are beginning with a collection of individual flowers and are looking for an illustrator whose work combines botanical accuracy with a soft, elegant, artistic quality. Our preferred style is: Traditionally hand-painted watercolor Graceful, airy compositions rather than dense bouquets Individual stems with natural movement Detailed flowers, buds and selective foliage Soft, muted and sophisticated color palettes Botanically recognizable without feeling like a scientific botanical plate Elegant, timeless and suitable for fine-art prints and stationery We are specifically seeking traditionally hand-painted artwork. We are not looking for AI-generated or digitally generated watercolor illustrations. The artwork will be reproduced commercially on products including fine-art prints, greeting cards, story cards and potentially other art and gift items. Final artwork should be professionally digitized and supplied as a high-resolution 300 dpi file with a transparent-background PNG suitable for commercial reproduction. Commercial usage/reproduction rights will also be required. We would like to begin with one paid illustration as a trial project. If the style and working relationship are a good fit, we hope to work with the same illustrator on an ongoing collection of flowers and other botanical subjects. Client's questions:

Job Details
Type: Fixed-price Budget: $500 (open to discussing for the right portfolio) Experience level: Intermediate to Expert Project length: One-time project, ~1–3 weeks Overview We're a small iOS app looking for a talented character illustrator to design our mascot: a friendly, warm-hearted dog named Gerry. Gerry is the heart of our brand, so we care deeply about getting the character right, and we're looking for someone whose hand and style we genuinely love. This is a hand-drawn character commission. We want warmth, personality, and craft, not a flat corporate logo and not AI-generated art. Who Gerry is (short version) Gerry is a calm, gentle, quietly clever little dog who always seems to know where everything is. He's a loyal helper, not a hyper cartoon. Think warm and endearing, with a little bit of quiet wisdom. A dog you'd trust to find your keys. We'll share a full creative brief with the chosen illustrator (character, personality, palette, and reference notes). At a high level: Breed direction: we're exploring a beagle or a Jack Russell terrier (you can propose which reads best, or explore both in the concept stage). Style: warm, hand-drawn, a little bit textured and painterly, with cute and expressive features. Charming, calm, and premium — not childish, not slick-3D, not AI-gradient. A key reference for the approach (not to copy): the vintage Polish cartoon dog "Reksio" is a great example of how simple, bold linework and slightly oversized head/eyes make a dog read as instantly friendly and cute. We love that design approach (the cuteness and simplicity levers), but Gerry must be his own original character. What we need (deliverables) One canonical "hero" Gerry — the definitive character, fully rendered with warmth and detail (soft fur, expressive cute face, gentle shading). One simplified "icon" version of the same Gerry — reduced to bold outline and flatter color so he stays clear and recognizable at small app-icon size. (Same dog, two levels of detail.) 2–3 additional poses/expressions of the hero Gerry (e.g., a happy/greeting pose, a curious "on the hunt" pose, a calm/resting pose — final list in the brief). Layered source files (Procreate / PSD / AI / SVG as appropriate) plus high-res PNG exports with transparent backgrounds. Requirements (please read before applying) Hand-drawn, original work only. No AI-generated base art. (We're happy for you to use your normal digital tools; we just need the character to be genuinely drawn by you, so it's protectable and ownable.) Full commercial rights / IP transfer to us for the final character (work-for-hire). We'll handle this through the Upwork contract. Your portfolio must show character or mascot illustration with a warm, hand-drawn feel. Please do not apply if your portfolio is mainly flat-vector corporate mascots, esports/gaming-style logos, or AI-generated pieces, it likely isn't the right fit and we don't want to waste your time. Animal / pet / creature illustration experience is a big plus. How to apply Please include: A link to your portfolio (especially any character or animal work). One or two lines on how you'd approach a warm, friendly dog mascot, and whether you'd lean beagle or terrier and why. Your timeline and any questions. Paid test first: for our top 2–3 applicants, we'd like to commission one quick rough sketch of Gerry as a small paid mini-project (fixed fee, we'll agree the amount) before awarding the full commission. This lets us see your take on the character on paper. It's the best way for both of us to know it's a fit. We're excited to meet Gerry. Looking forward to your application. Client's questions:

I'm looking for a skilled, qualified designer to create an icon/emblem for our business.
This needs to be skilled, original work - not looking for any use of AI. Each phase will start and conclude with a Google Meets call to clearly define the scope and direction, and answer any questions. Following each phase the chosen design should be able to communicate clearly the expression of their individual work, demonstrating how it addresses the level of brand identity. Phase 1 Concept design Explore different expressions and themes for the new icon, showing a clear hierarchy and design language that links back to our exisiting asset suite. Designs should feel original, unique and expressive. Phase 2 Design Development Demonstrate 2-3 different icon types and styles that are a continuation following on from feedback from the Concept Design. Designs should feel refined, considered and show a strong understanding of Brand Identity. Here you can show different expressions like repetition, emblem marking etc.. to show the distinct use of the icon. Phase 3 Asset finished art Deliver chosen icon direction in a suite of different expressions discussed post Design Development phase. Icon assets should be expressed in design files such as vector and 3d form. The attached file is our existing brand guidelines. You will see our logotype, as well as our expressive illustration iconography. We are looking for an emblem/icon that compliments this suite of assets. It does not need to follow any of these guidelines, moreso I am expecting to see an emblem that demonstrates a strong understanding of brand identity. Please also use our brands website - sheetsociety.com as a refernce of the other brand identity details. To note, this work will replace our existing 'bed' icon.

I already have die-line templates and a full set of finished packs that show the exact look and line-weight I’m after. What I need now is an illustrator who can step straight into that world and extend the range: layout and template dimensions all stay as they are—the only thing changing is the artwork itself and some text per series.
The task • Create fresh black-ink illustrations for five new product categories, matching the hand-drawn style of my existing series. Update the logo on these new illustrations- I will provide you with logo. • Update some of the existing packaging with new logo and other small content updates - no new illustrations on these. • Work directly on the supplied Adobe Illustrator templates so the files remain press-ready—spot black, outlined fonts, layers intact. • Keep proportions, margins untouched; only the graphics layer is updated. I’ll provide: reference packs, style guide, naming sheet and a checklist of the new categories required. Final deliverables are layered .ai files for each SKU plus linked .pdf proofs I can send to the printer in one click. Attached are some examples to reference. If you’re comfortable mirroring an established aesthetic and enjoy clean monochrome line work, this should be a straightforward, creative job. Skills: Graphic Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Branding, Illustration, Creative Design, Adobe Illustrator, Packaging Design, 2D Drawing, 2D Layout

Project Overview
I am looking for a talented illustrator/graphic artist with strong vector and apparel-production experience to create original artwork for a new apparel business. I have several AI-generated concept mock-ups that will be provided to the selected contractor after hiring. These mock-ups are intended to communicate the general creative direction, composition, and visual style I am looking for. The mock-ups are reference material only. I am specifically hiring an artist to take the concepts and create new, original artwork from scratch using their own artistic skills and creative judgment. This is not a project to simply reproduce, trace, vectorize, upscale, or modify the provided AI images. Critical Requirement: Original Human-Created Artwork This requirement is extremely important to me. The final artwork needs to be created by the human artist, rather than generated by an AI system based on the provided references. I am specifically looking for: Original human-created illustration Original line work Original shapes and graphic elements Original composition and artistic interpretation Human-created typography/lettering where appropriate Human-created textures and visual details Please do not use image-to-image AI, generative AI, tracing, automatic vectorization, or similar techniques to simply recreate the reference artwork. The reference images are being provided to communicate an idea—not as artwork to be copied. If you normally use AI tools in your workflow, please disclose that in your proposal. For this project, I need the final creative artwork to be independently created by the human artist. Critical Requirement: Production-Ready Vector Artwork This is not simply an illustration project. The final artwork will be sent directly to an apparel manufacturer for printing, so the selected artist must have experience taking an illustration or hand-drawn concept and turning it into a professional, production-ready vector graphic. The final master artwork should be: Vector-based Layered and fully editable Professionally organized Suitable for apparel printing Scalable without loss of quality Prepared with appropriate separations/layers for the intended printing process Free of unnecessary rasterized elements Created so that individual graphic elements can be edited or modified later I need the actual editable vector source file, not simply a high-resolution PNG exported from a raster image. The artist should be comfortable working in software such as Adobe Illustrator or an equivalent professional vector-illustration application. Experience preparing artwork for screen printing, DTG, DTF, sublimation, or other professional apparel-printing processes is highly desirable. Please include examples in your portfolio that demonstrate your ability to take an illustration or drawing and turn it into a polished, production-ready vector graphic. Apparel Experience The artwork will be used primarily for T-shirts and other apparel, so experience designing for apparel is highly desirable. The artist should understand how artwork needs to work when printed on clothing, including: Strong composition Appropriate detail at apparel-print sizes Effective use of negative space Print-friendly artwork Strong visual impact from a reasonable distance Transparent backgrounds where appropriate Color and layer management Print-production considerations Ability to adapt artwork for different garment applications Experience with sports apparel, outdoor apparel, cycling, mountain biking, or racing jerseys is a strong plus. Final Deliverables The primary deliverable will be a fully editable, layered vector master file suitable for professional apparel production. I will need: Editable vector source file Properly organized layers Original vector artwork High-resolution transparent PNG export Print-ready artwork Appropriate color specifications Individual graphic elements kept editable where practical Versions/adaptations for different apparel placements as required The final vector file should be organized professionally enough that another designer or apparel manufacturer can open the file and understand how the artwork is constructed. Please do not flatten the artwork into a single image. I want the underlying vector artwork and layers preserved. Copyright and Ownership The artwork will be used commercially as part of a new apparel business. I must receive full commercial rights and ownership of the commissioned final artwork, including the copyright, subject to the terms of the final Upwork agreement. The artist must be able to confirm that the final artwork is original and created by the artist. Please disclose any: AI-generated elements Stock artwork Pre-existing artwork Third-party illustrations Purchased graphics Fonts with licensing restrictions Other third-party assets used in the work. I need a clear chain of ownership for the finished artwork because I intend to use the designs commercially and potentially pursue copyright registration. What I'm Looking For I'm looking for someone who can bridge the gap between illustration and professional graphic production. The ideal artist can look at a rough concept or hand-drawn reference and say: "I understand the artistic idea. Now I'll create my own original illustration and build it into a professional vector artwork file that is ready to manufacture." I'm particularly interested in someone with demonstrated experience in: Hand-drawn illustration Vector illustration Apparel graphics T-shirt design Production artwork Screen-print preparation Sports/outdoor graphics Typography Converting sketches or drawings into finished vector artwork Please Include in Your Proposal Please provide: 3–5 examples of your original illustration work Examples of T-shirt or apparel artwork you've created At least one example demonstrating your ability to turn a drawing, sketch, or illustration into finished vector artwork Examples of production-ready apparel files if available A brief description of your typical illustration/vectorization process Confirmation that you can create the final artwork without using generative AI to recreate the supplied reference images Confirmation that you are comfortable transferring the agreed commercial rights and copyright ownership of the commissioned artwork Your estimated timeline Your proposed price Please prioritize portfolio examples that demonstrate actual vector illustration and production-artwork skills. Potential for Ongoing Work This initial project may lead to additional illustration and apparel-design work. I am interested in establishing a consistent visual quality across a collection of products, so a successful contractor may have opportunities for additional designs in the future. Important The detailed concept, reference images, and creative direction will be provided privately to the selected contractor after hiring. The public job posting intentionally does not include the specific brand, product concept, slogan, or artwork details. If you are an experienced illustrator who can create original human artwork and turn it into professional, layered vector artwork ready for apparel production, I'd love to see your portfolio.

Job Title: YA Novel Illustrator Needed. Cover (Colour) + Chapter Illustrations (Black & White) for Christian YA Fiction (Series). Start Date: Late September 2026
--- About the Project I am a Canadian author looking for a talented illustrator for my Christian Young Adult novel, Luke Sevyn. The book is 27 chapters (including an epilogue) and I need someone who can bring the visual world of this story to life with a strong, cinematic illustration style suited to YA readers. I am currently finishing my final self-editing pass and am vetting candidates now so I can move quickly when the manuscript is ready. The project start date is late September 2026. I want to find the right creative partner in advance so we are fully aligned before work begins. Luke Sevyn is a Christian YA novel exploring themes of faith, identity, spiritual warfare, and purpose. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic North America, a world reshaped by religious conflicts. Within that world, the story moves between brutal earthly realities and vivid atmospheric moments in the spiritual realm — shadows, light, invisible beings, and environments that exist beyond the physical. The illustrations need to handle both with equal confidence and visual power. This is Book 1 of a series. A great working relationship here has strong potential for ongoing illustration work across future books. --- On the Use of AI I want to be upfront about this: I do not want AI used at any stage of this project. No AI-generated image tools. I am hiring a human being for their talent, their judgment, and their creative intelligence. If you rely on AI tools to do the core of your work, this is not the right project for you. If you are a human professional who does the work themselves, I would love to hear from you. --- What I Need 1. Book Cover (Full Color) One full illustrated cover in a YA style that captures the post-apocalyptic and spiritual tone of the book. The cover will be in full color. It must feel compelling, marketable, and appropriate for Christian YA audiences. I have visual references and examples of the direction I have in mind and will share these with shortlisted candidates. That said, I am genuinely open to your creative interpretation. The best result will come from a real creative conversation. Cover must be delivered as a high-resolution print-ready file (300 DPI) with a full wrap version (front, spine, and back) if possible. 2. Chapter Illustrations (Black and White) One illustration per chapter as a standard, with some chapters requiring two illustrations depending on content and context. Total chapters: 27 (26 chapters + epilogue). I will provide a scene brief for each chapter with the specific moment to illustrate and any visual notes. All interior illustrations will be in black and white, clean, expressive, and cinematic in tone. Consistent character appearance and style across all illustrations is non-negotiable. --- Optional Sample Illustration If you would like to include a sample illustration of one of my characters as part of your proposal, I would genuinely welcome that. It is not mandatory as your portfolio should be sufficient, but a character sample would give me a meaningful sense of how you interpret this world and would carry real weight in my decision. I am happy to provide a brief character description to anyone who wishes to attempt one. --- Delivery Requirements - Cover: high-resolution (300 DPI), full colour, full wrap file if possible - Interior illustrations: black and white, consistent sizing for standard YA trim (6x9 inches), 300 DPI - Editable source files preferred (PSD, AI, or equivalent) - Watermarked previews for approval at each stage before final file delivery - Milestone-based delivery, cover first, then chapter illustrations in agreed batches --- Budget I am on a fixed budget at this stage and do not have a set figure yet. I would like to have an open conversation about what works for both of us. Please quote your cover rate and per-illustration rate separately and we will work from there. --- How to Apply In your proposal please include: 1. A link to your portfolio, especially any YA, dystopian, fantasy, or supernatural illustration work 2. Your rate for the cover illustration (full colour) quoted separately 3. Your rate per black and white chapter illustration 4. Your estimated timeline for the full project 6. Whether you are comfortable with Christian YA content including spiritual warfare and supernatural themes 7. Whether you are open to phased milestone-based delivery and payment 8. Whether you are open to ongoing series work 9. Optionally, a sample illustration of a character if you would like to include one (brief available on request) I look forward to finding the right creative partner for this project and for the books that follow.

I want to have a Panoramic illustration, in the ratio 1 X 6, that is the width should be 6 times the height. I want to depict a panoramic tea garden, and at the left bottom, a small surface (hint of a table top), in which a Tea Cup and a Ticker Machine is kept.
For reference, look at the image.png, and tea plantation files... I want the level of detailing in between the two... not as light as image, and not as heavy as the tea plantation. For the Cup and Ticker Machine placement look at the green tea cup file... the concept is similar, but the cup will be on the left side (along with the ticker machine), and the table should be minimal. The proportion needs to strictly panoramic of 1 X 6 ration. Client's questions:

Custom Font Family Design — Job Scope
Overview Looking for a type designer to create 3 custom, handmade-feel fonts for a brand. Each font needs to be built out as a full working font file. The 4 Font Styles 1. **Bold, Regular and regular italic** — hand-inked vintage serif 2. **Calligraphy/Cursive** — flowing script (is different from bold/regular font) 3. **Doodle** — playful, unconnected hand-drawn style (is different from bold/regular font). What Each Font Needs For every style above, deliver a complete character set: - Uppercase A–Z - Lowercase a–z - Numbers 0–9 and punctuation - Spanish accented characters (á é í ó ú ü ñ ¿ ¡ + uppercase versions) Process: Hand-draw the actual letterforms rather than tracing the reference images directly. We want a genuinely handmade feel, not vectorized or Ai look. - If possible, include a few hand-drawn alternate versions of common letters (OpenType alternates) so repeated letters don't look identical/stamped — this is a nice-to-have, not required, but tell us if you can do it. -Proper kerning is required — letters should space naturally in real sentences, not just look right individually. Deliverables Final font files: **.OTF and .TTF** -Editable source file (Glyphs, FontLab, or FontForge) -A specimen/proof sheet showing the alphabet + sample sentences for approval before final delivery Requirements - Portfolio showing fonts you've actually built - Full commercial usage rights — fonts will be used on products for sale - 2 rounds of revisions included in your quote To Apply Please share: 1. Examples of past custom fonts you've built 2. Estimated timeline and price

I'm launching a small holiday dress label and need five watercolor-style fashion illustrations of women, delivered as individual files so I can arrange them in a row on a landing page. One additional flat-lay style image is also needed in a hand drawn/sketch black and white style.
The concept is a lineup of "what women currently wear to Christmas parties," with the last illustration being my design (that is currently still in the concept/initial production phase). The tone should be approachable and stylish, not so high-end feeling that it feels unattainable or "snooty". Each woman should look confident and well dressed. Style: elegant watercolor with hand drawn vector linework. Light, painterly, editorial. Abstract/no face detail. I'd like them all to feel like one cohesive set: same medium, same line weight, same proportions and figure height, so they read as a row. Deliverables: 6 fashion illustrations on transparent backgrounds, plus editable source files. Vector format preferred. Please share one rough sketch of a single figure for approval before completing the full set.

|
I am looking for an experienced vector logo / Adobe Illustrator production artist to professionally reconstruct an existing, approved logo and create a complete production-ready logo asset family.
This is NOT a logo design project. The logo design, composition, concept, and overall appearance have already been approved. I do not want the logo redesigned or creatively reinterpreted. The current approved artwork exists as a raster image. I need an experienced professional to use that image as the visual master and manually reconstruct it as clean, scalable vector artwork. The logo consists of a hand-drawn-style sailing vessel/horizon mark, the SAILING DREAM MAKER wordmark, and the tagline: STORIES. ADVENTURE. CONNECTION. The goal is to retain the personality and hand-drawn quality of the approved artwork while creating technically excellent vector masters suitable for websites, print, social media, merchandise, signage, and other future uses. Critical Requirement — Vessel Geometry The sailing vessel is a two-masted ketch. This detail is extremely important: The forward/main mast is the taller mast and appears on the RIGHT side of the vessel mark. The aft/mizzen mast is shorter and appears on the LEFT side. This relationship must be preserved exactly. Please do not reverse the mast heights or reinterpret the vessel. What I Need The selected artist should: Manually reconstruct the approved logo in Adobe Illustrator or equivalent professional vector software. Create smooth, intentional Bézier curves rather than simply running the raster image through automatic Image Trace. Preserve the organic, hand-drawn character of the boat and horizon line. Reconstruct/match the typography and letter spacing as closely as possible. Refine minor raster artifacts where necessary while remaining faithful to the approved design. Ensure the finished logo remains clean and recognizable from small digital sizes through large-format reproduction. Create a complete, organized production logo asset family. Required Logo Variations I would like the final asset family to include: 1. Primary Horizontal Signature Vessel/horizon + Sailing Dream Maker + Stories. Adventure. Connection. 2. Vessel/Horizon Brand Mark The sailing vessel and horizon artwork without typography. 3. Wordmark Sailing Dream Maker typography without the vessel. 4. Wordmark + Tagline Sailing Dream Maker with Stories. Adventure. Connection. 5. Reversed Versions Versions appropriate for dark backgrounds. 6. Small-Format Brand Mark An optimized version of the vessel mark suitable for favicon, social avatar, and other small applications if necessary. Any simplification should be proposed for approval rather than assumed. Required File Deliverables Please provide professionally organized master files and exports including: Vector Adobe Illustrator (.AI) SVG EPS Vector PDF Raster High-resolution transparent PNG Appropriate web-resolution PNG exports Color Treatments Primary navy on transparent/light background White/reversed version RGB versions for digital use CMYK versions for professional printing One-color version suitable for engraving, embroidery, signage, etc. Please include the final color specifications (HEX, RGB, CMYK) and identify all fonts/typefaces used. What I Will Provide I will provide the approved high-resolution raster reference. The supplied image should be treated as the locked visual reference. I am open to minor technical cleanup necessary to create professional vector artwork, but I do not want a new logo concept. Ideal Freelancer I am specifically looking for someone with demonstrated experience in: Manual vector logo reconstruction Adobe Illustrator Bézier/path construction Logo production and prepress Brand asset preparation Typography and kerning Converting raster artwork into genuinely professional vector masters A traditional graphic designer, production artist, or identity designer with strong vector craftsmanship would be ideal. Please Include With Your Proposal Please send: Examples of raster-to-vector logo reconstruction you have personally completed. Examples showing detailed line-art or hand-drawn marks recreated as clean vectors. Confirmation that you will manually reconstruct the artwork rather than simply applying automatic Image Trace. Confirmation that you understand that the forward/right main mast must remain taller than the aft/left mizzen mast. Your estimated turnaround time. Your fixed-price quote for the complete asset family. Please begin your proposal with the words "MAIN MAST" so I know you have read the requirements rather than submitting a generic proposal.

I would like to have a scarf created to be produced by Contrado. These would then be given to guests at my daughter’s wedding. She saw this as a great way for guests to have a memory and enjoy seeing their interests and background depicted on the scarf. We have various ideas of what could be included in the scarf design but no idea of how to arrange into a pretty design ready for handing off to Contrado for production. Let me know if you would be interested ! I can explain more if this sounds like something you can do in the near future. Thank you in advance, Carol

Meet Lupi — Character Vectorisation & Master Artwork
I have created an original children's character called Lupi, who will become the mascot for my brand, Meet Lupi. I have attached the approved Lupi character sheet. This design is already approved and I do not want the character redesigned or reinterpreted. What I need I am looking for an experienced children's character illustrator/vector artist to take my approved Lupi artwork and recreate him as professional, clean, editable vector artwork. The most important thing is character consistency. Please preserve Lupi's: Face and facial proportions Large gentle eyes Grey eye patch Floppy grey ears Cream/white fluffy fur Rosy cheeks Small black nose Little smiling mouth and pink tongue Rounded, cuddly body proportions Short legs and small paws Soft, gentle and comforting personality Overall watercolour children's-book aesthetic Existing colour palette Please do not make Lupi look like a different puppy, teddy bear or generic cartoon character. Character sheet The attached character sheet shows the approved direction for Lupi, including: Front Side Back 3/4 view Facial expressions Sitting Waving Walking Running Hugging Peeking poses I would like these to be treated as the visual reference for the master character. Final files required I would like the final artwork supplied as: Adobe Illustrator (.AI) SVG EPS High-resolution PDF High-resolution PNG with transparent background The Illustrator file must be properly editable, with clean vector paths and organised layers. If possible, please keep major character elements on separate layers, such as: Body Head/fur Ears Eye patch Eyes Nose/mouth Cheeks Paws Tail Other separate elements where practical Important — this is not an automatic tracing job I don't simply want the image converted using an automatic image-trace function. I want the character professionally recreated as clean vector artwork, while retaining the handmade watercolour appearance and personality of the original. The finished artwork needs to be suitable for future: Children's books Fabric printing Product packaging Stickers Swing tags Website graphics Social media Heat-pack products Merchandise Potential licensing Commercial rights This character is being developed as a commercial brand mascot, so I require full commercial usage rights and ownership of the final commissioned artwork, with the rights transferred to me upon completion/payment. Please confirm that you are happy to provide the editable source files and full commercial rights. Future work If this first project goes well, I will potentially have ongoing work creating additional Lupi poses, expressions, outfits, seasonal illustrations and scenes. For this first project, however, the priority is getting one definitive, professional Lupi master character that we can use as the foundation for everything else. Most important instruction Please do not change Lupi's character design. I love the character exactly as shown in the supplied artwork. I am looking for someone who can professionally translate the existing design into production-ready vector artwork, not someone to create a new interpretation of Lupi. Please let me know if you have experience creating/vectorising children's book characters or commercial mascots, and please provide examples of similar work. I really hope we can work together on this and lot's of future projects

I’m looking for a creative children’s book illustrator to bring a funny, memorable cover to life.
The concept is a playful classroom scene with diverse children on portable toilets, learning from a goofy teacher using humorous diagrams and visual explanations. I want the artwork to feel warm, expressive, playful, and character-driven, with strong storytelling and personality. This is the first book in a series, so I’m looking for someone interested in a long-term collaboration. Please share your relevant work, availability, estimated cost, and a brief idea of how you’d approach the concept.

I'm seeking a talented illustrator to bring to life a children's book for 3-5 year-olds. The theme of the book revolves around friendship, and I'm looking for someone who can capture the essence of this theme in a creative and engaging way.
Key Requirements: - Experience in illustrating children's books, particularly for the 3-5 age group - Proficiency in creating hand-drawn style illustrations - Ability to convey complex themes, like friendship, through simple yet captivating imagery - A portfolio showcasing previous work in a similar style and theme Ideal Skills and Experience: - Background in art and illustration, especially in hand-drawn techniques - Understanding of the preferences and cognitive levels of preschool-aged children - Creativity in storytelling through illustrations - Attention to detail and commitment to quality If you have a passion for children's literature and a knack for hand-drawn illustrations, I would love to see your work and discuss this project further. # HARRY — Character Bible A book for kids 3–6 --- ## Logline A lovable, food-obsessed black Labrador named Harry narrates his daily adventures and misadventures from inside a busy, loving household — where he's pretty sure he's in charge, but the cat would strongly disagree. --- ## Harry *Species/Breed:* Black Labrador *Age:* 4 (still puppy-ish in spirit, "middle-aged" in dog wisdom) *Distinguishing mark:* A small white patch on his top lip — his signature feature, great for merchandise/logo later *Personality:* - Confident and self-assured (in his own head, he runs the house) - Food-motivated above all else - Deeply affectionate — lives for cuddles - Easily distracted by an open gate or an exciting smell - A natural-born "collector" — picks up things in his mouth that absolutely do not belong to him (socks, remote controls, garden gloves, whatever's nearby) - Has a particular soft spot for licking plates clean and sneaking Bramble's cat food when he thinks no one's looking - Secretly a big softie under the bravado - Loyal to his 4 humans without question *Signature catchphrase:* "Is it yours?" — the family's go-to line whenever Harry's picked something up he shouldn't have. He drops it instantly, every time, often looking faintly betrayed that the item wasn't, in fact, his. This is a goldmine for the show: - Recurring gag in nearly every episode (he can "borrow" something different each time) - Could become the show's actual catchphrase/tagline that kids repeat at home - Sets up a nice running joke about Harry's mental list of "things that are obviously mine" (his ball, his bed, frankly the whole garden) vs. everyone else's stuff *Voice/Narration style:* Inner monologue only the viewer hears — warm, a little dramatic, sees everyday events as Big Important Adventures. Think a golden retriever's enthusiasm with a Labrador's stubborn confidence. *Visual design notes:* Rounded, simple flat 2D shapes. Floppy ears that move expressively. Big eyes for emotion. Tail as an emotion indicator (low/wagging/frozen). White lip mark always visible as a quick way for young viewers to recognize him. *Real-life reference notes (from photos):* Solid black coat, broad friendly head, classic floppy Lab ears, expressive brown eyes. The white lip/chin marking is clearly visible and should be a consistent, simple design element in every shot — it's his most recognizable feature at a glance, which matters a lot for young viewers. Build (sturdy, mid-size Lab) should read as a bit more grown-up/solid than a cartoon puppy, even though his personality is puppyish. --- ## The House & Garden A lovely family home with a big garden — Harry's whole kingdom. The garden has a gate that, when left open, becomes the start of "Adventure Episodes." The garden itself can host lots of episode settings: digging holes, chasing butterflies, hiding from bath time, guarding it from squirrels. --- ## Supporting Cast ### Fred (Harry's Dad) A fellow black Labrador and Harry's actual father — now 12 years old, a true senior dog. Calm, wise, content to watch from his bed while Harry causes chaos. A lovely contrast character: where Harry is impulsive and excitable, Fred is the "been there, done that" voice of experience. Can deliver dry, knowing reactions rather than long speeches. Great opportunity for gentle, age-appropriate moments about respecting elders, patience, and slowing down — and sweet "passing down wisdom" beats between an old dog and a young one. *Real-life reference notes (from photos):* Noticeably greyer/whiter across the muzzle and brow than Harry — a clear, kind visual cue for his age that young viewers will pick up on intuitively (wise old face vs. Harry's younger, fully black face). Slightly heavier, more settled posture and movement. In the cartoon, this age gap is worth leaning into visually — Fred moves slower, sits rather than bounces, and his expressions are calmer and more knowing. ### Bramble (The Cat) Self-appointed boss of the house. Unbothered, superior, master of doing exactly what she wants. Comedic antagonist — never genuinely mean, just constantly unimpressed by Harry. Great for sibling-rivalry-style humor that young viewers relate to (sharing, patience, getting along with siblings). *Real-life reference notes (from photos):* Black-and-white patched coat (tuxedo/patched style, not a single solid color) — distinctive black patches over white, including a black patch over one ear/eye area. Striking green-gold eyes. Sits with very upright, composed posture — visually this "elegant statue" pose is a great default for her in the cartoon, especially in contrast to Harry's constant motion. ### The 4 Humans Harry's "love and food source" — based on his real family: - *Mum* — likely the steady, affectionate one; good source of cuddle moments and the voice of reason - *Dad* — the human dad of the house; playful, probably the garden/fetch parent - *Daughter (23)* — comes home regularly; great for "the one who spoils him" energy, sneaks him extra attention/snacks when she visits - *Son (18)* — comes home regularly; could be the high-energy one, roughhousing/games in the garden Since the older two "come home regularly" rather than living there full-time, that's actually a nice built-in story device — their visits can be little *event episodes* (Harry's extra excitement when the daughter or son comes home is very true-to-life dog behavior and instantly relatable to kids with older siblings). --- ## Recurring Themes & Devices - *"Is it yours?"* — the catchphrase. Use it as the punchline beat in most episodes; kids will start anticipating and saying it along with the show. - *Open gate = adventure trigger.* A great recurring device: whenever the gate's left open, it kicks off an episode where Harry "escapes" for a small adventure before someone finds him/he finds his way home — built-in stakes for young viewers (will he get home safe?) with a guaranteed cozy resolution. - *Bramble's eye-rolls* as a running gag/punctuation device — especially when Harry's been at her food bowl again. - *Harry's inner thoughts* misreading situations for comedy (e.g., thinks the vet is a "Surprise Treat Castle"). - *"Big sibling home" episodes* — extra chaos and joy when the 23-year-old daughter or 18-year-old son visits. - *Lesson at the end*, delivered gently through Harry's realization, not preachy narration — e.g., "is it yours?" episodes can gently touch on sharing/respecting others' things without ever feeling like a lecture. --- ## Sample book Ideas 1. *"The Great Gate Escape"* — Harry slips out and has a mini adventure around the neighborhood before trotting home for dinner. 2. *"Bramble Is the Boss"* — Harry tries to prove he should be in charge for a day; learns the value of teamwork/sharing. 3. *"Is It Yours, Harry?"* — A day-in-the-life built entirely around his "borrowing" habit, ending with him finally finding something that actually IS his. 4. *"Operation: Cat Food Heist"* — Harry's master plan to raid Bramble's food bowl goes hilariously wrong, Bramble gets the last laugh. 5. *"Bath Day Disaster"* — Harry hides from bath time, learns it's not so bad after all. 6. *"The Lip Mark Mystery"* — A sweet, simple origin-style episode about Harry's white lip mark (great heart episode, ties identity to backstory). 7. *"Plate-Licking Patrol"* — Harry appoints himself "Official Plate Cleaner" of the house, chaos and a gentle lesson about table manners ensue. 8. *"She's Home!"* — The daughter comes home for a visit; Harry can't contain his excitement, leading to a sweet, high-energy episode about love and reunions. 9. *"Cuddle Emergency"* — Harry decides everyone in the house needs a cuddle, chaos and sweetness ensue. --- ## Tagline ideas - "Harry the Lab — Top Dog (according to Harry)." - "He's not the boss of the house. But don't tell Harry that."
