I'm currently developing a new baby playmat brand and I'm looking for a pattern designer to help create our first collection.
I'm looking for soft, mix of modern and vintage designs, not overly "babyish", with a focus on floral, botanical, abstract and subtle geometric patterns. I'd also like the designs to work as reversible playmats, with a main design on one side and a simpler coordinating pattern on the other. I have some existing design inspiration and ideas that I'd be happy to share to give you a better sense of the aesthetic I'm looking for.

The overall look is warm, romantic and slightly vintage: deep chocolate-brown tailoring paired with an ivory or cream shirt, embellished in a restrained antique-gold palette. The visual language should combine delicate botanical branches and small flowers with bees, honeycomb geometry, stars, crescent moons and a few subtle heart motifs. I want it to feel refined and magical rather than cartoonish, busy or overly literal.
I need one coherent motif family, then separate, non-repeating placement compositions for: - shirt front panels, arranged vertically around the buttons - shirt collar points - shirt cuffs - jacket lapel/shoulder area - trouser hems, with a honeycomb-and-stars border that rises slightly up the outer leg The shirt artwork should be the centerpiece with most embroidery on top of it, and designed to be more botanical, with symbolic details such as bees, flowery branches, stars and moons. The jacket and trousers should remain mostly dark and tailored, with selective gold linework and honeycomb details rather than dense embroidery across the whole garment. Please create original artwork from this written brief rather than copying an existing design. I am commissioning digital artwork only—no physical garment or embroidery production is required. Technical requirements - Clean, editable vector artwork preferred: AI, SVG or EPS - Separate file/layer for each garment placement - Solid colours only; no gradients, painterly shading or photographic effects - Limited palette: antique gold/bronze plus optional dark brown (for the beige shirt) and cream (for the Chocolate brown jacket & pants) - Avoid extremely fine lines, tiny text, crowded details and very small gaps - Designs should remain attractive when simplified into stitch-based embroidery - Please include one preview image of each placement on a plain background - I would like to start with one small paid pilot motif before commissioning the full set Please let me know your fixed price for the pilot motif, your price for the complete five-placement collection, the number of revisions included, and whether I will receive commercial-use rights for the final artwork.

Mahabharat-Style Minimalist Comic Sketches

I’m putting together a comic book whose protagonists draw directly from the Mahabharat, and I need fresh, minimalist line sketches that still feel unmistakably heroic and rooted in that epic world. The focus is on clean silhouettes and iconic poses rather than ornate armor or intricate backgrounds—think strong shapes, clear facial expressions, and only the essential costume elements that signal each character’s identity.
You’ll receive a short brief with the specific characters I’ve chosen, along with any key reference images I already have. From there, I’d like you to interpret each hero or villain in your own hand-drawn style while respecting the traditional cues: characteristic weapons, signature headgear, and an overall aesthetic that matches classic Indian comics. Deliverables • One black-and-white sketch per assigned character, supplied as high-resolution PNG (300 dpi) plus layered PSD or Procreate file. • A bonus rough thumbnail sheet that shows your pose exploration for each character, so I can pick the strongest option before you finalize it. A sketch is approved when the likeness is clear at first glance, the lines remain clean at print size, and the file opens perfectly in Photoshop without missing layers. Once everything meets those points, we’ll wrap the milestone and move on to the next batch of characters. Children’s Coloring Book Illustrator – 26 Hand-Drawn Line Illustrations from Reference Images

I am looking for an illustrator to create 26 black-and-white line drawings for a preschool coloring book for children ages 3–5.
I already have all 26 finished reference images. Each image shows a familiar object in the shape of a letter—for example, an apple in the shape of an A. You do not need to design the images or come up with the concepts. Your job is to recreate my existing images as clean, hand-drawn coloring-book illustrations. The original object and letter shape should be preserved closely. However, I would like you to use your judgment to simplify details and slightly adjust the composition where necessary so that each image works well as a coloring page for young children. The finished drawings should have: - Clean, confident black outlines - A consistent style and line thickness across all 26 images - Large, easy-to-color areas appropriate for ages 3–5 - Enough detail to clearly recognize the object, but no unnecessary small details - No shading, grayscale, hatching or photographic texture - A clean white background I want the line art to be genuinely drawn by the illustrator. Please do not use generative AI, automatic tracing, photo filters, or automatic photo-to-line-art tools. The reason I am hiring an illustrator is that I want a human to make thoughtful decisions about how the original images should be simplified for a children's coloring book. To apply Please include links to relevant examples of your previous work, particularly children's coloring pages or similar black-and-white line illustrations for young children.

Children’s Book Illustrator to Recreate Established Scenes from Visual References

I am looking for an experienced children’s book illustrator to recreate existing visual reference images for a historical children’s book.
The creative work and visual direction are already established. I will provide a reference image for each scene showing the composition, characters, clothing, setting, poses, mood, and important visual details. I am not looking for someone to develop new concepts or invent the scenes from scratch. The illustrator’s role is to use my supplied images as visual references and recreate the scenes as original, professionally illustrated artwork suitable for publication. The reference images were created with AI assistance. However, the final illustrations must NOT be created using generative AI. I am specifically looking for an illustrator with strong drawing and/or digital painting skills who can recreate the supplied scenes through their own illustration work. The finished artwork should preserve the essential composition, characters, historical details, clothing, setting, expressions, and atmosphere of the references while transforming them into polished children’s-book illustrations. Character consistency is extremely important. Several characters recur throughout the book. Their facial features, skin tones, hairstyles, ages, proportions, clothing, and other defining characteristics must remain recognizable and consistent from illustration to illustration. The story takes place in a historical setting, so the illustrator must also be comfortable drawing people, period clothing, architecture, interiors, landscapes, and detailed environments. Much of the historical research and visual direction has already been incorporated into the references. Please apply only if you personally have the illustration skills required to create the final artwork without generative AI. When applying, please send examples of your own original illustration work, particularly: * children’s book illustrations * human characters and faces * recurring character consistency * detailed environments/interiors * realistic or semi-realistic storybook artwork Please also briefly explain how you would recreate a supplied reference image without using generative AI. This is the first book in a series, so there is potential for substantial additional work with the right illustrator.

If it’s a fit, we move to ongoing work (print series + tee graphics). ### How to apply Please include: 1. Links to **3–5 portfolio pieces** closest to hand-drawn / print / kids work 2. 2–3 sentences on why your style fits a playful children’s brand 3. Confirmation you can work from reference and take art direction Applications without relevant portfolio samples won’t be considered. Client's questions:

We are in desperate need for a branding refresh. Logo is problem number one. We're looking for an upgrade and we're giving you complete artistic leeway and creative freedom. This is a professional company that renovates houses in California. This company markets primarily to Real Estate Agents and Brokers, so it's meant to feel sophisticated but approachable, convey expertise and warmth at the same time. Professional themed colors and fonts are preferred, and we do like the current colors we have, if that helps directionally. We don't want to logo to look like we purchased a generic one off a freelancer site; which of course it currently looks like. This is will be cornerstone for business cards, apparel, website overhaul, and local marketing/advertising. We can drop the REAL ESTATE part of the logo. So 'Mayfield Investments' will do just fine. Simple is OK as well. See attached for our current generic, and sad logo. Our current website is www.mayfieldrei.com While we are flexible I'd caution again whimsical logos you might see on a food truck, tattoo or vape shop. Thank you for considering this project.

I'm developing an animated children's series called Sparkwood — a painterly 2D show in the visual style of Hilda (Netflix) and Owlegories, with the gentle, unhurried pacing of Bluey. I need professional character turnaround model sheets for two core characters before animation production begins.
WHAT I NEED For each of 2 characters (Eli and Phoebe), a full model sheet including: Front, 3/4, and side/profile views 4-5 key expressions (see notes below per character) A simple height/scale comparison between the two characters STYLE REFERENCE Painterly 2D, in the vein of Hilda (Netflix) and Owlegories. Soft, rounded child proportions — larger head-to-body ratio, small hands/feet, no sharp angles. Grounded, restrained expressions (think Bluey-level subtlety) rather than exaggerated cartoon extremes. CHARACTER 1 — ELI (protagonist, age 6) Light brown/bi-racial complexion (base tone ~ #B47B54, soft rosy undertone on cheeks) Black hair ( #1A1512), big and voluminous curls — his single most expressive feature; must read clearly in silhouette, including from the side Signature item: a small handmade kalimba on a woven strap, worn across the body. Wood tone ~ #8B5A2B, intentionally asymmetrical/hand-carved looking Spark glow: dim, inconsistent, flickering — warm amber ( #F4A93B), NOT a steady light Expressions needed: wide-eyed curiosity (default/neutral), furrowed concentration/frustration, soft wonder (for a key "flicker" moment), startled/surprised, quiet/withdrawn Clothing: simple, warm-toned everyday wear — muted terracotta or moss green, unbranded, slightly worn/lived-in CHARACTER 2 — PHOEBE (age 6) Warm, open posture — gentle curved silhouette reflecting a patient, listening personality Default resting pose: slightly tilted head (her "listening" tell) Spark glow: "echo" spark, only visible when actively listening — soft periwinkle/lavender ( #A8A4E0), gentle pulsing rather than constant Clothing/palette: cooler tones (soft blues/lavenders) to contrast Eli, while staying within an overall warm/earthy world palette Expressions needed: neutral/curious (default), genuine warmth/listening, surprised/startled, soft delighted grin DELIVERABLES Layered PSD or Procreate files (so palette/line work can be adjusted) Flattened PNG exports of each sheet Full commercial usage rights transferred upon final payment IDEAL CANDIDATE Experience with children's animation or storybook illustration — painterly or hand-drawn style specifically, not flat vector/corporate motion-graphics style. Portfolio link required with your application; please point me to your most relevant painterly/character work. This is a trial-scope project. If the style match is strong, there's potential for ongoing work as this series moves into full episode production.

I want to commission a traditional artist who excels in sketching (pencil/charcoal) to bring a series of anime-inspired posters to life. My goal is to capture dynamic characters, expressive poses, and atmospheric backgrounds in a hand-drawn style, then have the finished art scanned or photographed at high resolution so I can use it for prints and online promotion.
I will share reference images, character notes, and desired poster sizes once we begin. Your ability to translate those references into clean, detailed line work and rich charcoal shading is key. A crisp scan or photo of each piece, corrected for lighting and perspective, will be needed so the artwork is print-ready. Deliverables I need from you: • Concept thumbnail or rough layout for approval • Final pencil/charcoal artwork on quality paper • 300 dpi (or higher) scan/photo of the finished piece, cropped and leveled, in PNG or TIFF • One round of minor touch-ups on the digital file after I review the scan If you are comfortable combining traditional techniques with basic digital cleanup, and you love anime aesthetics, I’d love to work with you. Please include a link to comparable pencil or charcoal sketches—especially any anime pieces—so I can quickly see your fit for the project. 2D Main Character Artist & Animator – Hand-Drawn Frame-by-Frame Game Hero
Applied
|
$250 - $750
|
-
|
||
|
I am developing a 2D hand-drawn action/adventure game, and I am looking for an experienced 2D character artist and animator to create the game’s main playable character, Strich.
This is one of the most important art assignments in the project. Strich is not a secondary character or an enemy that appears occasionally. He is the main hero of the game. The player will control him throughout almost the entire adventure, and he will also appear repeatedly in story sequences and cut scenes. For this reason, character consistency, personality, silhouette, movement quality, and animation quality are extremely important. Character Strich is a young Tuatara prince. The character design already exists and will be provided as the visual reference. The purpose of this project is not to completely redesign him, but to refine the existing character where necessary and create a strong, consistent animation system around the approved design. His appearance should remain recognizable across every pose and animation. The art direction is: * 2D cartoon / hand-drawn style * Expressive but not overly exaggerated * Clean and readable silhouette * Suitable for a fantasy action/adventure game * Frame-by-frame animation * Consistent proportions between animations * Consistent costume, face, colors, weapons, and character details * No realistic 3D appearance * No generic sprite-generator appearance The character is normally presented at approximately a 2.5/4 viewing angle rather than a completely flat side view or strong 3/4 view. Maintaining this perspective consistently is particularly important. Animation Requirements Strich requires a complete playable-character animation set. The expected animation library includes movements and abilities such as: Core movement * Idle * Walk * Run * Jump * Falling / airborne movement * Landing * Death / defeat Combat * Main attack animations * Additional attack variations * Air attacks where required * Special attacks * Damage / hit reaction Traversal and abilities * Vertical rope climbing * Vertical wall/lizard-style climbing * Horizontal rope traversal * Double jump * Dash * Creeping / low movement * Swimming * Invisible/special attack ability Some abilities may require several animation states rather than a single animation. The exact animation list, number of frames, timing, and priorities will be discussed and agreed upon before each stage. Animation Style I am specifically interested in traditional frame-by-frame 2D animation. Natural movement is extremely important. I do not want the character to look as though individual body parts are simply being rotated or translated between poses. Animations should demonstrate proper: * Weight * Balance * Anticipation * Follow-through * Overlapping movement * Acceleration/deceleration * Contact with the ground * Personality * Readability during gameplay The animation should look good when viewed frame-by-frame as well as when played at game speed. Source Files Are Mandatory This is extremely important. The selected artist must provide the original editable source files used to create the artwork and animations. Krita, Photoshop, Procreate or another suitable genuine 2D workflow can be discussed before starting. I need access to the actual working files, including the relevant layers and animation frames. Flattened images, rendered videos, MP4 files, GIF files, After Effects compositions containing only imported/rendered artwork, or reconstructed files are not considered original source files. Final game-ready exports will also be required as transparent PNG sequences and/or sprite sheets according to the agreed Unity pipeline. Unity Compatibility The animations will ultimately be integrated into Unity. Therefore: * Canvas dimensions should remain consistent. * Character scale should remain consistent. * Pivot/ground position should remain consistent. * Transparent backgrounds are required for game assets. * Frames should be cleanly named and organized. * Animation sequences should be easy to import into Unity. * The character must not visually jump around because of inconsistent frame positioning. I will handle the programming and Unity integration, but the artist should understand how 2D game animation assets need to be prepared. Cut-Scene Importance Strich will also appear throughout the game’s story and cut scenes. Therefore, I am looking for someone who can truly understand the character rather than simply complete a list of animation cycles. The artist should be able to reproduce Strich consistently in different poses, expressions and situations while preserving his identity. This could become a long-term collaboration, because additional Strich animations and story sequences will be required as development progresses. Workflow I prefer to work incrementally. We will not create the entire animation library and review everything at the end. For important animations, we will normally follow a process such as: 1. Discuss the required action. 2. Prepare key poses / rough animation. 3. Review the movement and character proportions. 4. Make corrections where necessary. 5. Complete the in-between frames. 6. Review the complete animation. 7. Clean and finalize the artwork. 8. Deliver the original source file and game-ready frames. This approach is important because Strich must remain consistent throughout the entire game. Quality Is More Important Than Speed I am not looking for the cheapest or fastest possible animation work. I would rather have 10 excellent frames than 30 unnecessary frames. Frame count should be determined by the movement itself. Some actions may require relatively few frames, while more complicated actions may require considerably more. The objective is smooth, expressive animation without wasting frames simply to increase the frame count. Application Requirements Please do not send only a generic proposal. When applying, please provide: * Examples of your own 2D character animation work. * Preferably frame-by-frame animation examples. * Examples showing walk/run/combat or action animations. * An example where the same character appears consistently across several different animations. * The software you normally use. * Whether you can provide the complete original editable source files. * Your experience preparing animation assets for Unity or other game engines. If possible, please also provide a source-file screenshot or short screen recording from one of your previous animation projects showing the actual frames/layers/timeline. You do not need to send me another client’s source file; I simply want to understand your normal working process. Important Please apply only if the work shown in your portfolio is your own work and represents the quality you can personally deliver. Because this character is central to the game, I may ask shortlisted artists to complete a small paid test animation before awarding the complete character project. The paid test will be based on the supplied Strich design and will allow us to confirm: * Character consistency * Drawing quality * Understanding of the required viewing angle * Animation quality * Ability to follow feedback * Source-file structure * Suitability for the game’s visual direction If the test is successful, we can proceed with the complete Strich animation project and potentially continue working together on future animations and cut scenes. What I Am Looking For I am looking for an artist who sees Strich not as another freelance animation task, but as a main game character who needs to remain visually convincing through hundreds of poses and frames. If you enjoy building expressive hand-drawn game characters and can maintain excellent consistency across a large animation set, I would be very interested in seeing your work. Skills: Animation, 2D Animation, Krita

Vintage Americana Illustrator — Small-Town Apparel Collection

I'm hiring one illustrator to create a six-piece apparel collection built
around small-town heritage americana — bait shops, service stations, county fairs, dirt tracks — and I'm hiring on ideas as much as on execution. I run a screen printing shop and retail store in Oklahoma City. We design, print and sell our own apparel through our storefront, holiday markets, and wholesale to independent shops nationally. This is a brand new line for us. It is deliberately not a state-pride collection — it should work for someone in Michigan or Georgia as well as it does here. THE TONE Heritage americana with a straight face and a slightly ridiculous subject. Hand-painted plywood signage, service station uniform patches, county fair posters, sponsor logos on a dirt bike. Fun, quirky, unexpected, a little self-deprecating — made with real affection, never winking or ironic. What it is NOT: inspirational quotes, a punchline on a blank tee, photoreal outdoor-brand realism, or over-designed distressing. DELIVERABLES • 3 tee graphics • 2 hat patch designs (trucker hats; contained shapes, readable at 3.5x2.5in) • 1 bandana design (22x22in, border plus interior field) • Asset kit — every reusable mark, badge, spot illustration, border and piece of lettering delivered as native files and print-ready. All six should read as one system: shared line quality, consistent lettering approach, a repeating device. Not six unrelated graphics. CONSTRAINTS • 2-3 print colors per design. Fewer colors is cheaper and it's part of the look • Every business, brand, event and town name must be invented. No real trademarks, no real businesses, no proprietary camo patterns • One piece will print on a camo garment, so it needs bold graphics — but camo is one piece, not the theme. Don't build your pitch around it • Illustration leads. Type is essential but a set phrase alone isn't a design COLORS Earth tones and warm neutrals — charcoal, bone, sage, clay, faded blue, peach. Garments in bone, olive, faded navy, brown, etc. plus one camo. TYPOGRAPHY Open. Period lettering — hand-painted signage, condensed gothics, wood type. Custom lettering encouraged. Tell me if you use a licensed face so I can license it. WHAT I PROVIDE Reference photos of our existing products in this genre, garment and blank specs, screen printing guidance on what holds and what doesn't, and art direction at every milestone. MY ROLE I'm the art director and I print everything in house, so I'll give you specific, practical feedback and I'll tell you early if something won't print. Thumbnails before linework. Two revision rounds included. I work collaboratively and I don't micromanage the drawing. TIMELINE Hire Sept 11. Thumbnails Sept 16. Direction locked Sept 18. Final production files and asset kit Oct 2. HOW TO APPLY I'm selecting on the pitch. A strong portfolio with no ideas won't win this. 1. Two or three concepts of your own — written, a few sentences each 2. Rough thumbnails for at least one of them (napkin-level is fine) 3. Portfolio samples in a relevant register 4. One line about a small town you know well enough to steal from 5. Your turnaround estimate against the dates above AI DISCLOSURE: Final artwork must be drawn by you. AI-generated final art is not acceptable — please confirm this in your proposal.

I am seeking a skilled fantasy cartographer to create 9 print-ready maps for a D&D adventure module set in the classic Realm of Greyhawk. The project includes 6 area/regional maps and 3 tactical dungeon maps.
I am looking for an old-school, hand-drawn OSR (Old School Renaissance) aesthetic that evokes 1980s fantasy modules, but enhanced with modern layout and readability techniques. I have rough sketches/layouts ready, but I want to collaborate with an artist who can iterate with me to find the perfect signature look. Style Requirements & Deliverables: * Visual Style (DM Maps): Hand-drawn style with fine ink line work and crosshatching, layered over a subtle parchment/papyrus/vellum texture background. Subtle use of muted digital watercolor washes to provide clear visual focus and hierarchy for the DM. * Visual Style (1 In-World "Sage" Map): One of the area maps must be designed as a diegetic, in-world artifact drawn by an NPC. This map should look like a character’s hand-drawn field sketch—mostly monochromatic (sepia or charcoal ink style), rich in flavor, but still legible. * Technical Specs: All final files must be delivered at 300 DPI, in CMYK color profile (for physical print-on-demand) as uncompressed PNG or TIFF files. Gridless and gridded variants will be required for the dungeon maps. Client's questions:

I’m seeking an experienced children’s book illustrator to bring my original picture book, *The Land That Only Imagination Could See*, to life. The story follows Zane, a young boy who loves baseball, whose prized game-winning ball mysteriously disappears, leading him on an imaginative adventure. I’m a professional Creative Director and graphic designer who will handle art direction, typography, page design, and production. I’m looking for an illustrator who can collaborate while bringing their own creativity to the project. The work includes character development, approximately 25–30 interior illustrations or illustrated spreads, and a cover. Strong character consistency across poses, expressions, perspectives, and environments is essential. The artwork should feel warm, expressive, imaginative, contemporary, and magical. All artwork must be original, human-created work. This is a commercial publishing project, and final scope, timeline, revisions, rights, credit, and compensation will be agreed upon before work begins.

I'd like some minimalist cartoons/illustrations for a short joke book. It would require 10-15 cartoons but they'd be pretty low-fi. I've attached slides of the rough idea I had for the book -- they contain my own illustrations that the artist would be replacing.
If things work out the job could become more comprehensive but I would just like to build a proof-of-concept first.

Hand-Drawn Line Artist / Illustrator Needed to Refine Minimalist Coastal Emblem
I’m looking for an experienced artist/illustrator with exceptional hand-drawing ability and a highly developed eye for line, form, proportion and organic movement to refine an existing emblem for a coastal botanical and sea salt brand. This is not a logo redesign. The concept and overall composition are already established: a sun over three ocean waves. I will provide the existing artwork as the starting point. What I have discovered through previous refinement work is that this project requires more than technical proficiency in Adobe Illustrator. I am specifically looking for someone who can draw — an artist who can look at a small group of simple lines as one composition and instinctively understand how subtle changes in curve, spacing, proportion, rhythm and visual weight can give an emblem character and presence. The finished mark should feel warm, organic, contemporary, quietly sophisticated and unmistakably coastal — evocative of sun, salt, sea and the natural landscape. The artistic challenge The emblem is intentionally minimal, which means every line matters. The sun and three waves need to feel as though they belong together rather than appearing as separate elements. The sun should have subtle presence and become the natural focal point without becoming heavy or dominant. The waves should have graceful, natural movement and individuality while remaining cohesive as a group. I am not looking for perfectly geometric curves or simply cleaner vector paths. I want the slight sensitivity and character that comes from an artist’s eye and hand — refined enough to function as a professional logo, but organic enough to feel alive. I’m looking for someone with * Strong traditional drawing and/or hand-drawn illustration skills * Exceptional minimalist line work * A sophisticated understanding of proportion, balance and negative space * An intuitive feel for organic curves and natural movement * The ability to create personality with very few lines * Experience translating hand-drawn artwork into clean professional vector files * Adobe Illustrator proficiency for final execution * The ability to preserve an established concept while bringing genuine artistic judgment to its refinement Please include with your proposal Please share 2–4 examples of your own original line work or hand-drawn illustration that best demonstrate your ability to create expressive, organic forms with minimal lines. Sketches, ink drawings, emblem work or other relevant artwork are welcome. I am much more interested in seeing how you draw and how you see than a portfolio of polished logo mockups. Please also briefly tell me how you would approach refining the relationship between the sun and the three waves so they read as one unified emblem. Potential for future work Although this posting is for one defined emblem-refinement project, I am hoping to find an artist with whom I can develop a longer-term creative relationship. Future projects may include original coastal artwork and illustration across several related brands, packaging, apparel and other brand applications. The right artist for this project will understand that the goal is not to add complexity. It is to make a very simple mark distinctive, memorable and full of quiet presence.

No AI please!
I need a logo and a capsule for my paint mixing puzzle game called Paint Match. I've attached concept for the art I want to be roughly followed: bright vibrant paints being mixed with a nice looking paintbrush. The overall art shape is oval / palette-like. The image should be stylised but not flat. Deliverables: * High resolution final capsule image 3-4K pixels wide * Layered source file. I'll make different resolution crops myself. Layers should make it easy to hide or alter background, logo and artwork at least * Some in progress sketches to align on the concept. The capsule should follow common steam guidelines and have * Good visual hierarchy * Title Readability * Focal Point * Color Contrast * Genre Communication * Composition Balance * Art Style Artwork must work well when scaled to Steam capsule formats. Please absolutely no AI generated images in the final file or sketches. I've also attached an example of background image from the game. It should not be used as a reference for the logo/capsule art, but might be helpful to provide overall stylistic/colour direction.
