I want to model timber material in abaqus. It has different strength/stiffness properties in different direction. What I want to have is when a section achieves it's maximum, it should fracture brittle. For example, if my material has 24 MPa tensile strength and I have 20x20 mm cross section area, it should carry load until 24x20x20= 9600 N, and then it should fracture.

I already have two subroutines. I already defined stiffness properties. In one subroutine, I can load the elements until their max, but then they continue carry max stress and keep deforming. In the other one, I used element deletion, so when an element achieves it's max (which is 24 in this case), it is deleted. But the problem with the second model is when an element achieves max (24) another element might be still lower than 24 (for example 20). But the one with 24 is deleted so I never achieve 9600.

Just imagine a classical tensile test. What I want to have as load-displacement curve is it should go until 9600 N and then it should fracture and go 0 N.

I also want to model same thing for shear, but first, I need to handle this tension failure. So basically, it should represent real behavior.
