2️⃣ Selling Ad Packages by Province (Custom Code Adjustment)
Currently, the system sells advertising placements by city/commune. I need to adapt it to also sell by province.
Technical context:
• WordPress + WooCommerce + WooCommerce Subscriptions
• Custom PHP and JavaScript code
• Province data already exists in the database
• The current filter logic only works at the city level
• Ad display order must remain based on plan type (Premium, Cool, Basic, Courtesy)
⚠️ This requires working carefully on existing custom code. Documentation of changes is important.
3️⃣ Subscription System Adjustments
Using WooCommerce Subscriptions with Webpay OneClick.
Needs include:
• Correct configuration of subscription models (example: annual plan billed monthly)
• Proper integration and operation of Webpay OneClick
• Reducing excessive or unnecessary automated emails
• A user-friendly flow for pausing or canceling subscriptions
4️⃣ Pagination + Tabs Issue
The current system uses JavaScript tabs with PHP pagination.
Problem: When switching pages inside tab 2, 3, etc., the system always returns to tab 1.
The active tab needs to be correctly passed between JavaScript and PHP to maintain context.

We're having an issue where products that are in stock are continuing to show out of stock on google shopping and/or on merchant center.

Even though there’s really only a couple hours or so of questions to do each day, we brought him full time and guaranteed him a competitive full time salary because we wanted questions to be answered immediately, as soon as someone asked, both for email and live chat. Essentially, if someone asks a question about purchasing a computer, and they are not answered immediately, most often they’ll purchase from a different company who answers their question. When he 1st started, our sales numbers increased significantly because people were getting their questions answered right away.
This was nearly 2 years ago. Just a few weeks ago, when he asked for time off the week before Christmas, we told him he could not have off because it is our busiest week of the entire year, and he was our sole customer support person. He agreed NOT to take the time off, appearing active in upwork, but failed to respond to customers in a timely manner at all. He was missing live chats, and potential customers were waiting hours for responses instead of 1-3 minutes, causing them to purchase elsewhere.
When we saw him showing active in upwork that week, but not responding to us or our customers, we decided to take a closer look into how he’s been operating our support over the last several months and found out this was not a stand alone instance at all. For several months, live chats were taking several minutes to several hours for customers to get a response during business hours. He had also regularly been taking hours to reply to customer emails - all while being signed into upwork full time and showing “active”.
Our sales have taken a major hit over the last several months, for which we originally blamed the economy…but realistically we can see that we have lost out on numerous sales because of Saad’s complete laziness and lack of doing his job. Often times us (as the 2 owners of the company) would wait hours for a simple reply on slack - WHY? Because he wasn’t actually sitting in front of his computer working like he was being paid to do.
I would NEVER recommend ANYONE hire Saad for ANY job. He simply can’t be trusted, and frankly, in our opinion doesn’t even deserve to remain on upwork.

1st off, he CONSISTENTLY showed up late to work according to our agreed upon time.
2nd, we started off by paying him for a couple of weeks to setup postbacks for us; they only work about 3/4 of the time.
3rd, We paid him for another couple weeks to increase our pageload speed and fix PayPal issues - neither of these tasks were ever completed.
4th, Since he couldn’t complete those tasks, and continued to place blame on our previous programmer and "messy code," we (for some CRAZY reason) decided to pay him an additional 120 hours of work to move our existing site over to a platform called Checkout Champ.
In 120 hours he didn’t even come close to getting even 1 funnel setup for us on checkout champ.
Furthermore, he found out only after 120 hours of work, that it didn’t even have the functionality we needed. Instead of doing research in the beginning, or simply hopping on live chat with our account representative to get questions answered, he milked the clock and wasted our time and money.
All in all, he was paid for for 4 different tasks, NONE of which got completed.
We've paid him $1960, we're a month behind on our projects, and he's refused to complete any of the tasks for the money he was paid. He's extremely ungrateful and impossible to work with.

In future projects, more clarity upfront on what is included in each milestone might help avoid misunderstandings.
There was also a request to release a milestone before the agreed tasks were completed, with the explanation that more time was needed. A suggestion would be to consider a flexible hourly contract for situations like this, rather than multiple milestones, to avoid pauses in the workflow and ensure continuity. Although these issues were minor, they could have been resolved without the need for extra milestones.
While we did encounter an unexpected delay due to a family emergency, which we understand can happen, it did impact our deadlines. Clearer communication about how such events might affect timelines could help in managing expectations.
We encountered additional issues along the way - small fixes that required attention and they are related. However, each fix came with a request for an additional milestone, which created some hesitation on our end. It may be helpful in the future to bundle minor adjustments within milestones to streamline the process. Additionally, at times, there was some misunderstanding of the specific issues we needed to address, and clear, regular communication may help in aligning on task requirements.
Overall, with some adjustments in communication and milestone expectations, I believe future projects with this freelancer could be more seamless.
