As the company matures, it needs structured execution leadership to formalize what has historically lived inside one person's head.

The CEO's current leadership team includes 9 direct reports spanning operations management, technology, strategic planning, and client services. The team is analytically strong but structurally lacks someone whose primary job is tracking commitments, driving deliverables to completion, and holding the CEO accountable for follow-through.

The Problem This Role Solves
The CEO is a high-output, fast-moving founder who generates more initiatives, business cases, and strategic priorities per week than the team can absorb without structured execution support. The organization needs a dedicated tracking and accountability function — someone who captures what the CEO produces, sequences it, tracks it to completion, and pushes back when the pipeline is overloaded. No current team member fills this role.


The Role
You are the CEO's execution system — the external structure that catches what he generates and turns it into tracked, completed work. You sit between the CEO and the team. You capture his directives, translate them into sequenced project plans, track progress, chase deliverables, and tell him when he's overloading the system.

You are not a strategist (the CEO has a Strategic Analyst for that). You are not an operator (the CEO has domain leaders for that). You are not a people manager. You are the tracking and accountability layer that doesn't exist today.

A Day in the Life
You start the day reviewing your project tracker — 15+ active workstreams, each with owners, deadlines, and status. You attend the CEO's morning meetings, capturing directives and decisions in real-time. By mid-afternoon, you've translated that morning's output into a sequenced plan, flagged two stalled deliverables, sent follow-ups to three team members, and pushed back on one new initiative that conflicts with an active commitment. You end the day with an updated tracker and a clear picture of what's moving, what's stuck, and what needs escalation.

What You'll Do
Capture: Attend CEO meetings and document directives, decisions, and commitments in real-time. The CEO moves fast and does not circle back — if it's not captured live, it's lost.
Prioritize: After every burst of CEO output, translate it into a sequenced, actionable plan within 24-48 hours. Send back: "Starting items 1-3 this week, 4-7 queued, 8+ need clarification."
Track: Maintain a living project tracker across 15+ concurrent workstreams. Owners, deadlines, status, blockers — updated weekly minimum. The CEO receives conclusions, not granular updates.
Push back: Tell the CEO "we're finishing this first" when new initiatives conflict with active commitments. This requires facts and data, not emotion. You must be comfortable being direct with a demanding executive.
Follow up: Chase deliverables from team members. Flag delays before they become failures. Escalate blockers. The team includes people who analyze thoroughly but ship slowly — your job is to keep them shipping.
Buffer: Shield the team from rapid-fire CEO inputs by packaging and sequencing them. The team cannot absorb 8 new priorities in one meeting. You translate bursts into structured, digestible work packages.
Report: Weekly CEO briefing — 30 minutes max. Conclusions first, supporting detail available on request. Business Case format: Problem, Status, Decision Needed. Never more than 3 topics.
Context maintenance: The CEO juggles many conversations simultaneously and does not always retain prior details. Every update you give must open with a one-sentence anchor: "Regarding [Project X] from our [date] meeting where we decided [Y]." Never assume he remembers.

We are a subscription-based creative services company with over two years of historical project management data across dozens of clients.

We are looking for a senior-level data scientist to conduct a deep analysis of client activity to identify patterns that precede churn.

This is not a dashboard project.
This is not a generic machine learning exercise.

We have meaningful data and a clear objective: determine what behavioral patterns tend to appear in the 60–90 days before a client leaves, and translate those patterns into a practical early warning framework.

We are especially interested in identifying probability patterns such as “X% of churned clients exhibited Y behavior within 90 days of leaving.”

Our data includes both structured and unstructured information.

Structured data includes project creation timestamps, due dates, completion dates, message timestamps, response times, revision counts, activity frequency, and status changes.

Unstructured data includes client briefs, project discussions, feedback threads, comments, approvals, and conversations between clients and designers.

We believe meaningful signal may exist not only in usage metrics, but also in shifts in engagement depth, tone, initiative level, feedback detail, and interaction patterns over time.

The scope of work will involve analyzing approximately 30 churned clients along with a control group of retained clients. The goal is to identify statistically meaningful behavioral changes leading up to churn and develop an interpretable risk framework we can operationalize internally.

We are not looking for over-engineered deep learning models or academic research reports. We are looking for strong feature engineering, thoughtful analysis, and outputs that can be applied in a real business setting.

You should be highly proficient in Python (pandas, numpy), SQL, and statistical modeling. Experience working with messy or partially unstructured data is important. Familiarity with applying NLP techniques to extract engagement or sentiment signals is strongly preferred.

Most importantly, you should be comfortable reasoning from imperfect data and identifying meaningful signal without overfitting.

The project is expected to run approximately six to eight weeks. This is a project-based engagement with potential for ongoing collaboration if successful. An NDA will be required.
