I have successfully completed over 550 projects on the platform, but I’ve never come across someone like Tega.
Tega constantly looks for free work from freelancers. He posted the job as hourly, but never actually hired me on an hourly contract. I worked over 30 hours to make his website stable and complete the migration. When the work was done, he suddenly claimed it was a fixed-price project.
When I asked for payment midway, Tega said he would “pay more later.” He hired another developer in front of me and never paid for his completed work. His Upwork profile may look good at first, but it’s clearly used just to attract freelancers and exploit them.
Tega spends $5 and expects $500 worth of work. He delays hiring, adds multiple tasks under the same milestone, and once everything is completed, he says it was a fixed-price deal — meaning you end up working for free.
I’ve done 40+ hours in total, and he said he’ll only pay $100 + $100 + $70, which doesn’t even cover a fraction of the work done. This client is a complete scam, and I strongly advise every freelancer not to work with Tega. You’ll just waste your time, energy, and effort waiting for payments that will never come.
If there were an option to give negative stars, I would definitely give Tega that.
