We are a growing, California-based eCommerce brand in the consumer health space. We are not looking for a “manager” to simply monitor our spend. We are looking for a Type A, data-obsessed growth professional to take full ownership of our Google Ads ecosystem.
You must treat this account as if it were your own business. We need someone who is restless when ROAS dips, proactive before we even ask a question, and surgically precise with our capital. If you are looking for a “set it and forget it” role, this is not it.

🔍 What You’ll Do
• Manage and optimize Google Ads campaigns across Search, Shopping, Performance Max, and YouTube with a strong focus on eCommerce performance.
• Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly optimization protocols to maintain a healthy and scalable Google Ads account.
• Maintain a detailed activity log of all optimizations, tests, and strategic changes (beyond Google’s native change history).
• Perform deep keyword research and query analysis to identify inefficiencies, opportunities, and scaling paths.
• Advanced Negative Keyword Strategy: Develop structured negative keyword frameworks (campaign-level, ad group-level, and shared lists) to control search intent, prevent cross-campaign cannibalization, and improve overall performance.
• Optimize and manage Google Shopping feeds and promotions, including troubleshooting feed issues and improving product performance.
• Conduct ongoing A/B testing to improve CTR, conversion rate, CPA, and ROAS.
• Analyze campaign performance using a data-driven approach, identifying trends and opportunities for scale.
• Provide performance-driven input on ad copy and creative elements when necessary.
• Ensure accurate tracking and attribution using GA4, GTM, and UTM parameters.
• Stay up to date with Google Ads updates, eCommerce trends, and platform policies.

• 6–10+ years of hands-on Google Ads experience, with a strong focus on eCommerce.
• Proven ability to scale campaigns while maintaining or improving ROAS.
• Strong expertise in Google Shopping, feed optimization, and promotions management.
• Advanced experience with negative keyword strategy, campaign structuring, and query control.
• Ability to analyze performance data and make decisions based on metrics.
• Strong communication skills with prompt responses during business hours.
• Willingness to join Zoom calls when necessary.
• Ability to work independently and proactively, identifying issues and solutions without direction.
• Must provide proof of performance, including screenshots verifying ROAS and ad spend from eCommerce accounts you have managed (client information may be redacted).
• Fee for service is based on an hourly rate of work.

This has been one of the worst freelancer experiences I have ever had on Upwork.
From the beginning, I clearly outlined my requirements and repeatedly confirmed that Rezaul understood them. He assured me that he did. However, after more than a month of work, it became evident that he either did not understand my needs or was incapable of executing them.
Communication was extremely poor. He would frequently go 24 hours or more without responding, sometimes even longer. I constantly had to chase him for updates. This lack of responsiveness alone made the experience stressful and highly unprofessional.
My primary requirement was very clear. I needed ads targeted to a specific audience that could afford a high ticket service. I explicitly explained that a previous freelancer had failed by targeting the wrong demographic, and I wanted to avoid repeating that mistake. Unfortunately, the exact same issue occurred again.
The ads were shown to completely unsuitable audiences. I began receiving messages from low income users asking for irrelevant things such as buying them iPhones, burgers, or pizzas, or claiming to be fans. I specifically asked for business owners and entrepreneurs to be targeted, yet I had construction workers and unrelated individuals reaching out. These messages were direct replies to the ads, which was clearly visible in the screenshots I shared with Rezaul.
Despite clear evidence, he dismissed my concerns and claimed he did not believe these messages were coming from the ads. This seriously made me question his competence.
He proposed running an awareness campaign followed by retargeting, but this only resulted in wasted ad spend. An awareness campaign is pointless if it is shown to people who cannot afford the service and have no purchasing intent.
I have never experienced this level of stress trying to understand what was happening with a project. He never took initiative to explain his strategy or provide updates. I was always the one asking what was being done. Even at the time of writing this review, he has not responded to my last message, despite ads actively running. Time is money, especially when paid ads are involved.
When I asked for accountability and clarity after the awareness campaign, he told me to trust the process. I did, and that was a mistake. More money was wasted as a result. I was extremely patient and asked for very basic things, such as daily updates on what actions were being taken. He could not even do that.
When I raised concerns about the ads reaching the wrong audience, he shifted blame onto me, despite the fact that he was fully in charge of the advertising. Expecting timely communication, transparency, and correct audience targeting is not asking for much.
Rezaul did less than the bare minimum. Even writing this review is frustrating because it brings back how unnecessarily difficult this experience was. I cannot understand why he accepted this job if he was unwilling or unable to deliver. There were many other qualified applicants, and I chose him based on his experience, which turned out to be misleading.
Deadlines were repeatedly missed. He would say something would be completed by a certain day, and it still would not be done days later. This should not be acceptable on a professional platform like Upwork.
Overall, this project resulted in wasted time, wasted money, and unnecessary stress. I trusted Rezaul’s expertise, and that was a mistake. A full month of time, money, and peace of mind that I can never get back.

There was no proper ad spend, no quality creatives, and no structured strategy. Despite this, the expectations were extremely high, with constant pressure for outcomes that are simply impossible without investment, data, and time.
Facebook advertising is not magic. It requires budget, testing, analytics, and patience — none of which were properly supported in this project.
Attempts to explain the fundamentals were ignored, and expectations remained disconnected from reality throughout the collaboration.
I cannot recommend this client based on my experience.

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CRO and Data Specialist to join our dynamic ecommerce agency. In this role, you will be at the forefront of optimising our clients' ecommerce customer experience (CX) by managing, testing, and implementing key conversion points. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire end-to-end Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) process, which includes a blend of strategic planning and hands-on execution across A/B testing and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities
1. Audit clients’ sites to benchmark them against competitors, review analytics, and provide reports and recommendations.
2. Manage and optimise critical conversion points within the ecommerce funnel.
3. Lead A/B testing efforts and continually measure and refine the performance of CTAs.
4. Drive improvements in the lead-to-customer conversion rate and overall funnel efficiency.
5. Conduct in-depth research on client data and user behaviour using tools such as Google Analytics, HotJar, and others to provide actionable insights.
6. Execute the full A/B testing process, from ideation to post-test analysis, ensuring data-driven decisions.
7. Collaborate closely with clients, managing stakeholder expectations and delivering clear, data-backed recommendations.
8. Develop and maintain roadmaps for client initiatives within retainer agreements.
9. Work alongside our UX and UI Designers to ensure that concepts are aligned with conversion best practices.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a CRO-focused role.
- 3+ years of experience in a data-centric role.
- 2+ years of experience within the ecommerce sector(ideally Shopify)
- Proficiency in time management and organisation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Hands-on experience with A/B and split testing (Ideally Visually/Shoplift)
- Strong background in analytics and data interpretation.
- Experience in UX wireframing and understanding of UX best practices.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working in an agency environment.
- Background in design.
- Experience with Shopify.
