I had to do a lot of project management myself on the Zoom calls, which was difficult due to the accents. They did a fairly good job communicating by email, but there was a 12-hour delay between most emails due to the time zone difference.
On the other hand, their price is more than fair, and their developers must be talented or they wouldn't have been able to complete this job. It was a from-scratch integration between our highly customized, out-of-date, open-source website and our new fulfillment software. There are no manuals for the out of date site or even for the open source platform, so they had to figure things out as they went along.
So working with them was stressful, but if you're up for that, it could save you a lot of money. The proposal we received from a US-based agency for the same job was about twice as high.

I sent him two web pages as psd files and one, the most complicated, as a draft in Adobe XD. The prototypes the freelancer sent me the day before the deadline didn't follow the designs in the psd or xd files and actually had less functionality than the XD prototype draft I had sent him.
When I complained, the freelancer claimed that there was a misunderstanding about what I wanted. That's quite possible, because I suspect he outsourced the job to someone from India, and if he was only the middleman, that could easily lead to miscommunication. (The only evidence I have that he outsourced the job is that he asked me to give access to the XD prototype to an email with an Indian name, so I don't know this for sure.)
When I complained that he hadn't done the job I asked, he responded promptly and worked through the weekend to redo his work and have the prototypes done in time for our usability testing appointment on Monday. So I'm grateful for that. He initially was going to charge me for the revisions, but when I said an Upwork representative agreed that I shouldn't have to pay for revisions, he backed down. I was willing to pay for some of the revisions, because if he had done the job right in the first place it probably would have taken more hours than he charged me for. But in the end he didn't charge me for any of the revisions.
So it wasn't a good experience overall, but at least he made things right in the end.

Overview
I’m looking for a skilled illustrator with a strong watercolour style to create digital watercolour paintings of fish and flies/lures from photos. This will be ongoing work if we find the right fit.
The artwork will be used for high‑quality prints (often framed), so attention to detail, realism, and scale is very important.
For each commission you will:
1. Receive:
- 1–3 reference photos of a fish (e.g. trout, salmon, carp, pike, etc.)
- 1–2 reference photos of the fly / lure used
- The actual length of the fish (e.g. 52 cm or 21 inches)
2. Create a digital watercolour illustration:
- Fish painted from scratch in your own hand‑drawn watercolour style
- Fly/lure also painted from scratch as a separate element
- Plain, clean background (white or very light neutral wash – no scenery)
- No photo filters, no AI conversion tools – this must be original illustration
3. Deliver:
- High‑resolution PNG/TIFF (300 dpi) with transparent or white background
- Source file (PSD/Procreate/Clip Studio etc., with layers where possible)
Critical Requirements
1. Strong watercolour illustration skills
- You can convincingly mimic traditional watercolour (texture, edges, washes, granulation).
- You can work digitally (e.g. Photoshop, Procreate) and produce print‑ready files.
2. Ability to work from photo reference
- Accurately understand fish anatomy, proportions, and markings from photos.
- Adjust colours/contrast slightly for a pleasing illustration while keeping it recognisable.
3. Scale accuracy
- You must be able to draw the fish to scale based on a length measurement:
- Example: If the fish is 50 cm and the print is A3, you will size the illustration so the printed fish measures 50 cm nose‑to‑tail.
- I will provide the required print size and fish length; you handle correct scaling in your working file.
4. No AI or photo filters
Artwork must be:
- Hand‑drawn/painted (digitally), not auto‑generated.
- Not based on style‑transfer or AI “photo to painting” tools.
- I may ask for work‑in‑progress (WIP) screenshots or time‑lapses occasionally to confirm process.
5. Reliability & communication
- Comfortable working to clear briefs and deadlines.
- Open to 1–2 rounds of reasonable revisions per piece (e.g. colour adjustment, markings refinement).
Nice to Have
- Experience illustrating fish, wildlife, or nature subjects.
Familiarity with common game and coarse fish species (trout, salmon, pike, bass, etc.).
- Experience preparing artwork for print (colour profile, bleed, safe margins).
Volume & Budget
- This is intended as ongoing work.
- Initially: test project with 1 paid illustration (fish + fly).
- If we’re both happy, we can move to a regular per‑piece arrangement (e.g. X illustrations per month).

We are looking for a skilled illustrator to recreate and adapt vintage artwork for a heritage Amekaji (American Casual) fashion brand. The primary focus is on designs similar to mid-century Souvenir Jackets (Sukajan) and vintage military tour jackets.
The aesthetic we are aiming for is comparable to Tailor Toyo. The goal is to take reference images of vintage embroidery (e.g., eagles, tigers, dragons, maps) and "digitally restore" or slightly modify them for new production.
This is for 50 artworks.
Responsibilities:
Recreation: Create high-quality, hand-drawn illustrations based on provided vintage reference photos (mostly 1940s–1950s embroidery designs).
Adaptation: Make slight changes to the original designs as requested (e.g., changing the text, altering the composition, or refining the linework).
Style Matching: Capture the specific look of vintage embroidery—organic lines, shading techniques, and the "imperfections" that give the art character. This is not a job for clean, geometric corporate vector art.
Deliverables: High-resolution files (Vector/AI preferred, or high-res PSD with separated layers) suitable for apparel production (screen print or embroidery digitization).
Requirements:
Strong Hand-Drawing Skills: You must be able to draw organic subjects (animals, mythical creatures, landscapes) with a confident, vintage flair.
Understanding of Amekaji/Vintage Style: Familiarity with the visual language of Sukajan (Souvenir Jackets), Vietnam War-era tour jackets, or 1950s tattoo flash is a huge plus.
Attention to Detail: Ability to analyze a low-res vintage photo and reconstruct the missing details accurately.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop.

I’m looking for an experienced brand / apparel graphic designer to help adapt an existing logo so that it visually matches an existing illustration, and prepare everything for t-shirt print production. The t-shirt that this will be printed on will be black colour, heavyweight, DTG, oversized/drop shoulder street style.
