- Design, build and maintain REST APIs in Node.js (Next.js API routes
today, with room to grow into a dedicated service).
- Own file and image uploads: validation, size and type limits, storage,
and delivery through a CDN or storage gateway.
- Keep the platform secure: authentication, authorization, secret and
credential management, input validation, rate limiting.
- Design data models and caching so the marketplace stays fast as the
number of listings and users grows (pagination, search, sorting).
- Set up logging, monitoring and error tracking, and keep services
reliable in production.
- Write automated tests for your APIs and run them in CI.
- Work with the Frontend Engineer to design clean, well-documented API
contracts.

What you'll need
- 3+ years of professional backend experience with Node.js.
- Strong JavaScript; TypeScript experience is a plus.
- Experience building production REST APIs with Express, Fastify, NestJS
or Next.js API routes.
- Solid knowledge of at least one database (PostgreSQL, MySQL or
MongoDB) and of caching with Redis or similar.
- A strong grasp of web security: OWASP Top 10, secret handling,
authentication (JWT, sessions, OAuth), input validation.
- Experience writing tests with Jest, Mocha or Vitest, and using
Supertest or similar for API testing.
- Comfort with Git, code review, and writing clear technical notes.

Nice to have
- Experience with cloud file storage (AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, IPFS) and
image processing.
- Message queues or background jobs (BullMQ, RabbitMQ, SQS).
- Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and deploying to Vercel, AWS or Cloudflare.
- API documentation with OpenAPI / Swagger.
- Experience on a marketplace, e-commerce or creator platform.
