We’re looking for an experienced Shopify web designer/developer to implement and improve a purchased website template for Yoruba Imports, a brand specializing in authentic African arts, crafts, and botanicals. We are currently migrating to Shopify and require a robust design to better support both B2C (retail) and B2B (wholesale) customer experiences. Our products have already been transferred to Shopify; your focus will be entirely on site design, layout, and custom template functionality using the Empire Theme as the foundation. Scope of Work & Deliverables 1. Theme Setup & Critical Custom Functionality • Theme Installation: Install and configure the Empire Theme. • Custom Quick Order List: Implement a custom list/table view for the "Botanical Plants" collection. This list must allow customers to enter quantities for multiple herbs on a single page and add them all to the cart simultaneously (Crucial for high-volume herb ordering). This must work with Shopify’s native inventory tracking. See attached image for more information. • B2B Gated Access: Set up a solution for wholesale customers, including a gated login/application form and functionality for Purchase Order (PO) integration. 2. Artistic & Custom Landing Page (One-Page Design) The entire B2C homepage should be a scrolling layout (no separate About/Contact pages). • Visual Design: Beautiful, culturally rich design representing African art and heritage. • Banner: Option for a static or video banner, easily editable via Shopify admin. • Navigation: Header links must anchor to the relevant homepage sections (e.g., "Contact Us" anchors to the Contact form section). • Embedded Sections: o About Us/Our Sourcing o Contact Us (Integrated contact form) o Bestsellers / Featured Products (Admin-selectable) o Category Tiles: Image-based navigation tiles for main categories (modernized version of existing layout). 3. B2C Functionality & Design Preferences • Design Fusion: Implement design elements inspired by: Savor (bold visual layout), Tinker (structural flow), and Palo Alto - Fable (fonts/colors). • Carousel/Slider: Include elements to showcase rotating products or featured collections. • Multilingual Support: Implement a solution for multilingual support (preferably automatic browser-based language detection or a toggle, e.g., English ↔ Spanish). • Integration: Newsletter signup integrated into the footer. I’m commissioning a custom wallpaper that is to be used for my living room. I like the designs from morris & co but would love something a bit more personal. The palette be similair to the proof of concept attachment.

Key motifs I want to see are hibiscus flowers worked into a network of connecting stems and branches that form a subtle, repeating diamond lattice. All of this should sit on top of an anthracite cracked basalt / marble backdrop, giving the whole piece a textured, slightly dramatic base layer.

Our family shop burned down last year and with it went two hand-painted coolers that featured the hunting dogs my dad loved. I’ve already spray-painted a new cooler in a deep forest green and now I’d like an artist to bring those lost images back to life—this time with a flock of ducks, too.

What I know for sure
• Two realistic portraits of the dogs: shown from the
side. I’ll supply reference photos for markings, coloring, and personality cues.
• Ducks in flight on top of the cooler—wings out, giving a sense of motion.

I am writing this review to share my highly negative experience working with Florian, a client on Upwork. It is crucial for me to warn fellow freelancers about the unprofessional conduct, exploitative behavior, and lack of integrity displayed by Florian during our collaboration. My encounter with Florian was nothing short of a nightmare, leaving me utterly frustrated and disappointed. First and foremost, Florian consistently failed to set clear deadlines for project deliverables. Despite numerous requests for specific timelines, he continuously avoided providing any concrete commitments. This lack of organization and disregard for deadlines severely hindered my ability to plan and allocate my resources effectively. It resulted in unnecessary stress and confusion, making it almost impossible to deliver quality work within a reasonable timeframe. Moreover, Florian consistently attempted to manipulate me into performing tasks that were not initially outlined in our contractual agreement. He expected me to complete additional work without any compensation, making absurd claims that those tasks were somehow implicit or related to the original scope. This blatant attempt to exploit my services without fair compensation demonstrated Florian's complete disregard for professional boundaries and a lack of understanding of ethical business practices. Furthermore, Florian's communication skills were extremely poor. He would frequently disappear for extended periods without providing any updates or responding to crucial queries. As a result, progress on the project was consistently delayed, causing unnecessary frustration and wasted time. It became evident that Florian lacked the basic courtesy and respect required to maintain effective communication with a freelancer. To make matters worse, Florian showed a complete lack of honesty throughout our collaboration. He made false promises regarding payment terms, attempting to renegotiate rates and reduce agreed-upon compensation retroactively. This deceitful behavior left me feeling undervalued and disrespected, as Florian consistently sought to take advantage of my skills and expertise without offering fair compensation. In light of my experience, I strongly advise all freelancers on Upwork to steer clear of Florian. His unprofessional conduct, exploitative requests, poor communication, and dishonesty make him an extremely unreliable and undesirable client to work with. Engaging in any professional relationship with Florian is likely to result in undue stress, frustration, and a significant waste of time and effort. I sincerely hope that by sharing my experience, I can protect other freelancers from falling into the same trap and suffering the negative consequences of working with Florian. Upwork is a platform that thrives on professionalism, fairness, and mutual respect, and clients like Florian undermine these values.
