I am looking for an experienced children’s book illustrator to help bring a personalised picture book to life.

The book is a sentimental story about a couple, their relationship, their beloved dog and the arrival of their baby. It is a personal family project intended to become a lifelong keepsake.

The project

* Approximately 16 illustrated story pages, plus a front cover.
* Square book format: 12 × 12 inches.

Artistic direction

I am looking for a traditional, painterly children’s storybook aesthetic. The illustrations should feel warm, whimsical and timeless, with beautiful colours, expressive characters and carefully illustrated backgrounds.

I already have an established visual direction and approved artwork for the cover and some interior pages. It is essential that all remaining illustrations maintain the same artistic style and visual consistency.

Character consistency

The book features three recurring characters:

* A female protagonist, whose facial features, complexion, eyes, hair and overall appearance must remain recognisable throughout the book.
* A male protagonist, whose established facial features, glasses and beard must remain consistent.
* A small dog with distinctive black and caramel markings, expressive eyes, floppy ears and a pink collar.

I have approved illustrated character references and real photographs available. These must be used as references rather than redesigning the characters for each illustration.

Working arrangement

I would like to work collaboratively with the illustrator. I prefer to commission one initial sample illustration first, agree on the style, character likeness and quality, and then proceed with the remaining pages in stages.

I will provide detailed scene descriptions for every page. Revisions and feedback will be part of the process, as maintaining consistency across the entire book is essential.

The koala needs to be in professional outfit and showing happiness, like the other koalas I sent you but also showing that it is a working koala.
It doesn't need to be exactly Scandinavian clothes but working clothes. When I used the Scandinavian style was to exemplify and differentiate from a tropical style, which would be more colorful. As per Scandinavian, I want you to understand that it needs to be more elegant and clean like the Ralph Lauren Bear. On the other hand, I need it to be happy like with eyes open and a smile, but can't be childish because this koala will be the mascot of an event named: World Workplace Wellbeing Summit... so... elements to express the workplace are needed. In the sketch that I created on Canva, it has glasses, tie, and coffee mug to express workplace... I need some elements of a "happily working" koala to be placed.
