I need help re-engineering the plastic drag knob on my spearfishing reel. The current part works, but its overall dimensions no longer suit the way I handle the reel in the water, so the main goal is to adjust its size and profile for a smoother, more positive drag adjustment.

# Accuracy Expectations

This is an **engineering-oriented reconstruction**, not a purely artistic modeling job.

The most important criteria are:

1. Overall dimensions
2. Fuselage external shape
3. Wing planform
4. Airfoil geometry
5. Stabilizer geometry
6. Control-surface geometry
7. Relative position of all aerodynamic surfaces
8. Landing gear geometry
9. Overall proportions
10. Clean CAD construction

Small details that have no effect on the external aerodynamic shape are less important than getting the major geometry correct.

# Important Project Approach

We understand that it is difficult to determine exact dimensions from photographs alone.

Therefore, we expect the project to be performed iteratively:

### Phase 1 — Initial reconstruction

Use the available photographs and known dimensions to create the initial CAD model.

### Phase 2 — Physical measurements

In a few weeks, we expect to have access to the actual Wizard M aircraft.

We will then provide additional measurements and photographs as required.

The freelancer will use these measurements to refine the CAD model.

### Phase 3 — Final verification

Compare the CAD model against the actual aircraft and make the necessary corrections.

The final result should be as close as reasonably possible to the physical aircraft.

We are **not expecting the freelancer to magically determine every dimension from photographs**.

The aircraft will become physically available to us in a few weeks, and we will be able to provide additional measurements, photographs, and reference points as needed.

You’ll take completed storyboards and turn them into clean, expressive foreground illustrations.

You will not be responsible for backgrounds, animation, rigging, VFX, or coloring. We have separate team members handling those parts of production.

To be especially clear, this is NOT a coloring position. Your main responsibility is creating the clean foreground artwork and linework. A separate colorist will handle the final coloring and lighting.

Because your artwork will be animated, movable elements will occasionally need to be kept on separate, clearly organized layers for our animator.

We’re also looking for someone who is comfortable reusing and adapting existing models rather than redrawing everything from scratch. Consistency is extremely important to us. For example, our main character’s head and mask should stay consistent across scenes, poses, and camera angles instead of subtly changing from shot to shot.

- Has strong character and creature drawing skills
- Can maintain extremely consistent character proportions and designs across many scenes
- Can reuse existing character models and assets when appropriate
- Can draw the same subject across different poses and angles without the design drifting
- Has a strong sense of shape, silhouette, proportions, and expression
- Can create simple, readable artwork without over-rendering
- Understands artwork intended for limited 2D animation
- Is comfortable with creepy, disturbing, and occasionally graphic subject matter

Our visual direction is similar to Historically, but slightly darker and more unsettling. We’re still refining the exact Phobos style, so strong artistic taste and the ability to help develop that look is a big plus.
