We’re looking for a children’s book illustrator to help bring a warm, funny, and heartfelt story to life.

The book is called “Katie the Caiman.” It’s a 32-page picture book written by my wife, inspired by a real animal rescue center. It’s designed for kids ages 4–8 to enjoy with their parents. The tone is playful, emotional, and character-driven with jungle animals, light humor, and a simple message about identity and belonging.

The story: Katie is a curious little caiman who follows a butterfly too far from her home in the Costa Rican mangroves and gets lost. She finds a waterfall pool inside a human building and starts splashing—only to be mistaken for a crocodile. After some panic, kind rescuers bring her to an animal center where she meets monkeys, sloths, macaws, and a group of rhyming turtles. She’s finally seen for who she is and finds a new home.

How We’re Hiring
We’re hiring three artists for a paid test round. Each will be paid $100 USD to illustrate the same full-color scene. After reviewing the test pieces, we’ll choose one illustrator to complete the full 32-page book.
