2D Character Illustrator & YouTube Thumbnail Designer for Animated Series

|
I’m looking for a talented 2D character illustrator and YouTube thumbnail designer to work with me long-term on an animated YouTube series called The Time Joseph Banda (TTJB).
TTJB is a comedic, story-driven animated web series centred around a recurring cast of characters led by Joseph Banda, a 25 year old British man retelling his life from the moment when his two older siblings move to the UK from Zimbabwe to live with him. I’m looking for someone who can become the main illustrator/visual artist for the series, helping establish a consistent visual identity and gradually build a large reusable library of artwork that can be used throughout future episodes. The ideal person will be able to: • Design original cartoon characters from written descriptions and references • Keep those characters visually consistent across different drawings • Create facial expressions, poses and outfits • Illustrate minor props, locations and other episode-specific assets • Create strong, clickable YouTube thumbnails • Help gradually build the overall visual world of TTJB This is not traditional frame-by-frame animation. The artwork will primarily consist of reusable illustrated assets that will later be arranged, manipulated, animated and edited by my video editor using software such as Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro. You would be responsible for creating the original artwork, not animating or editing the finished episodes. Experience creating assets that will later be used in Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro or Character Animator would be useful, although you do not need to be an animator. Photoshop experience is preferred but not required. What You Would Be Creating: Character Designs You will help design the recurring cast of TTJB based on detailed written character descriptions and references that I provide. This may include, main character design, background/minor characters, different outfits/ accessories etc… Because the story takes place across several years, some characters will need multiple age-specific versions while remaining clearly recognisable as the same person. Reusable Character Asset Library A major part of the role will be helping build a reusable TTJB character library. Rather than redrawing every character from scratch for every scene, we want to gradually build collections of reusable poses, expressions and outfits. Such as happy and angry expressions, poses like sitting, walking and outfits like regular outfits and school clothes etc. Not every character will need all of these immediately. The library will be built gradually as the series develops. Episode-Specific Artwork For each episode, I may send you the script and/or a list of visual assets required. You would then create any new artwork that does not already exist in our asset library. For example, a particular character reaction or a new pose, visual gag or scene-specific outfit. The goal is not to illustrate every single shot of every episode from scratch. Existing artwork will be reused wherever possible, while you create the new original assets that each episode genuinely requires. Over time, as the library becomes larger, more and more artwork will be reusable. Backgrounds, Locations & Props You may also occasionally be asked to create reusable locations and objects for the TTJB universe. Examples could include: The Banda family house, living room, school, church and props like phones, food, money etc.. Like the characters, these will ideally become part of a reusable library. YouTube Thumbnails You will also be responsible for creating approximately 2-3 finished YouTube thumbnails per month. These will normally use the characters and visual style of the series. The thumbnails need to be designed specifically for YouTube and attracting clicks. You may occasionally need to create exaggerated poses or expressions specifically for a thumbnail rather than simply reusing existing character assets. Character Style I’m looking for a clean adult cartoon / animated sitcom-style aesthetic rather than extremely detailed illustration. The artwork should be: • Expressive • Recognisable • Visually clean • Easy to reuse • Easy to edit • Suitable for animation/manipulation later • Consistent across multiple episodes The designs should allow facial expressions and poses to change without the character suddenly looking like a different person. Character consistency is extremely important. If you draw the same character five, ten or twenty times, they should still clearly look like the exact same character. File Requirements: • High-resolution transparent PNG files • Layered PSD/source files • Organised and clearly named layers/files The general workflow for each episode will look something like this: 1. I write and record the episode 2. I send you the script and/or required asset list 3. We identify which existing TTJB assets can already be reused 4. You create any new character poses, expressions, props, locations or illustrations required 5. You deliver the organised artwork/source files 6. My video editor uses those assets to construct, animate and edit the finished episode This means your artwork will gradually contribute to an expanding TTJB visual asset library that can be reused across future videos. I’m looking for someone who can potentially become the main illustrator and visual artist for the series long-term. Initially, there will naturally be more character-design work because we need to establish the main cast and visual world. The exact type of work may vary depending on which episodes are being produced. As the character and asset library grows, the amount of completely new character artwork required should gradually change, with more existing artwork being reused. Budget Approximately £400 per month however this will increase after the first few months. I am looking for someone who: • Can maintain extremely strong character consistency • Is comfortable working from written descriptions and visual references • Has experience drawing expressive cartoon characters • Has experience making YouTube Thumbnails • Communicates well • Can take feedback and make revisions • Can meet deadlines consistently • Is interested in an ongoing working relationship rather than a one-off commission • Is interested in helping develop the visual identity of a series over time When applying please send: 1. Examples of your cartoon/character design work 2. Examples showing the same character in multiple expressions or poses 3. Examples of YouTube thumbnails you have personally designed 4. Any examples of backgrounds, props or illustrated assets you have created 5. Your normal turnaround time 6. Whether you can provide layered PSD/source files 7. What software you normally illustrate/design in 8. Whether you are comfortable with approximately £400 per month for the regular workload described above 9. Please start your application with the word “TTJB” so I know you have read the full post I’m particularly interested in portfolios that demonstrate character consistency — for example, showing the same character across different facial expressions, poses, outfits and scenarios while still looking unmistakably like the same person. This will hopefully become a long-term ongoing role and, if the series grows, I would like the successful artist to become an important part of establishing and maintaining the visual identity of The Time Joseph Banda.

We run systemHUB.com — a SaaS platform that helps business owners document their SOPs, policies, and training so the business doesn't depend on them personally.
We already have a explainer/product tour video we like (https://trackinglinks.wistia.com/medias/kdr6cmd5x2/]). This isn't a from-scratch reinvention — it's a tighter, updated cut: same energy, shorter runtime, refreshed to reflect where the product is today. The one thing that has to be in this version: systemHUB now connects to AI through MCP (Model Context Protocol) with full read and write access — so an AI assistant can pull a company's systems straight out of their library, and write new ones back into it, without a human copy-pasting anything. That's new since the last video and it's a genuine differentiator — it should land as a moment in the video. Scope: - Tightened script (we'll provide the current script/transcript and current video as a base) - Storyboard or shot list for approval before animation starts - Motion graphics / animated explainer in our brand style (brand guide + assets provided) - Voiceover (yours, a VO artist you source, or we can supply ours) - Final cut ~60–90 seconds, landscape (16:9) for the website; happy to pay extra for a square/vertical cut for social if you offer it You should apply if: - You've built SaaS/software explainer videos before (send 2–3 examples, ideally ones you cut down from a longer original, not just built from zero) - You can work from an existing video + script rather than starting a blank canvas - You're comfortable turning "a new technical capability" into something visual and simple, not jargon To apply, send: - Your explainer video reel/portfolio (direct links, not just a profile) - Your typical turnaround time for a project this size - Your rate — fixed price for the scope above, not hourly

I need a set of short, animated videos that teach my small-business audience something valuable while quietly reinforcing our brand. The focus is purely educational, so each clip should explain a concept, tip, or process in a clear, engaging way without feeling like an ad.
Here is what I have in mind: • Format: bite-sized videos optimised for social feeds (square or vertical, 30–60 seconds each). • Style: fully animated—motion graphics or character animation, whichever best fits the lesson. • Tone: friendly, straightforward, visually rich, keeping viewers’ attention even with the sound off, so on-screen text or captions are a must. I will supply the core lesson outlines. You will turn them into: – a concise script, – storyboards for approval, – polished animation with music and licensed voice-over, – final exports ready for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn. Please reply with links to similar educational animations you’ve produced and note your typical turnaround time per video. I’m looking for someone who is comfortable using and is familiar with Live2D Cubism (Important: must be able to use Live2D Cubism Editor version 4.2.03_2), Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to help adjust existing emote artwork and animations for different animal and color variations to create their Christmas version.
I'm not looking for artwork or animation creation. The artwork, animations, Christmas elements, and completed references already exist. The work mainly involves: - Moving certain elements from Illustrator to Photoshop - Importing or replacing PSD elements in Live2D - Copying existing animated elements between Live2D files - Making small adjustments if needed so everything fits the new emote correctly - Exporting each finished emote as a 500×500 GIF Animation - Keeping the provided folder structure and filenames organized Each emote requires different adjustments. I will provide 2 workflow videos that demonstrate the whole process, but they don't cover every emote individually. You will need to compare each existing emote with the supplied finished Christmas reference and determine which elements need to be copied, imported, repositioned, or adjusted. You should be comfortable working independently and using your visual judgment to match the references accurately. I will also provide the source files and completed references. We will begin with a paid test of five emotes. If the test goes well, there will be additional work for multiple emotes. I’m looking for someone who can start as soon as possible and work consistently over the next few weeks. Ideally, I’m looking for someone interested in a long-term freelance collaboration. If everything goes well, I’d like to continue hiring the same person for similar emote projects in the future. Attention to detail, careful file naming/organization, and the ability to follow the provided references are important. All supplied artwork and project files must remain private and cannot be shared or reused. Client's questions:

I’m planning a 10-minute, 2D educational cartoon for my YouTube channel and I’m looking for a creative partner who can take the idea from rough concept right through to a finished upload-ready file. The animation should be fun, visually engaging and, above all, clearly teach the chosen topic to a young audience without feeling like a lecture.
What I already know: • Style: 2D Animation only—no need for 3D or stop-motion approaches. • Tone & Purpose: Educational, with lively pacing and humour to keep kids watching until the end. • Voices: I’ll need you to secure voice actors for each character (male and female roles, plus a narrator). If you have an existing talent pool, great; if not, please outline how you would cast and direct them. What I need from you: 1. Concept refinement and storyboarding based on a short outline I’ll provide. 2. Character, prop and background design in a bright, kid-friendly palette. 3. Full 2D animation (Adobe Animate, Toon Boom or a comparable tool—use what you’re best at). 4. Voice casting, recording and syncing, including light direction to match the script’s educational beats. 5. Soundtrack and effects that enhance learning cues without overpowering dialogue. 6. Final master: 1080p MP4, plus separate audio stem for dialogue. Acceptance criteria: • Total runtime within 9:30–10:30. • Clear, intelligible voices with zero clipping or background noise. • Smooth animation at a consistent frame rate (minimum 24 fps). • At least two review rounds incorporated before final delivery. If this sounds like a project you can champion, let me know how you would approach the timeline, voice casting and any past examples that prove your educational storytelling skills. I’m ready to start as soon as we agree on the workflow. Skills: Animation, Illustration, Caricature & Cartoons, 3D Animation, 2D Animation, Voice Acting, Adobe Animate, Character Design

We’re looking for a motion designer to elevate an existing short-form branded animation for a financial firm.
We already have: * A clear creative concept and brief * An existing version of the animation * All required brand assets and guidelines * Copy/content for the piece The current execution is a relatively simple 2D motion graphic - essentially a sequence of branded slides/transitions. It works, but we’d like to make the motion feel significantly more considered, engaging and connected to the underlying creative concept. This is not a ground-up branding or concepting project. The core idea, visual system and assets are already established. The task is to take what exists and improve the motion design, transitions, pacing and overall execution. The existing version was created in Jitter, but you do not need to use Jitter. After Effects or another motion tool is completely fine as long as the final output can be delivered in the required formats. We’re looking for someone with strong taste in contemporary 2D motion/brand design who can add creative ideas without overcomplicating a relatively simple piece. Important: we need the final animation within 24 hours of starting. Please include 2–3 examples of relevant motion/brand animation work. We can provide the existing animation, full brief, assets and brand guidelines immediately.

Summary
We're launching a new animated video project blending real animal science with deadpan comedy. We're looking for a long-term animation partner to bring these scripts to life. Creative Vision Animation Style: Our primary style reference is the Dumb Doggo YouTube channel — specifically their "deadliest beetles" video. Think 2D character animation, comedic timing built around real facts, expressive reactions, etc. What We Need - Experience with 2D character/comedic animation - Comfort working from a scripted, storyboard-style production document - Turnaround of 10-15 days per video from handoff to first cut Payout $10 per finished video minute, based on the voiceover runtime — most episodes run 9–12 minutes, so plan on roughly $90–120 per video. Revisions are included in that price. The Opportunity If the work is professional, on-time, and all revisions are completed within scope, you'll be offered an additional video at the same rate. Long-Term: After the first 3 videos, we'll review channel performance together and talk about an ongoing partnership. To Apply Submit a proposal including: 1. 2–3 samples of similar comedic/character animation work (links or files) 2. Your typical turnaround time per finished minute 3. Any questions about the project We'll follow up with next steps and a timeline for candidates who look like a fit. Looking forward to seeing your work, Jen Client's questions:

2D Animator Wanted for 5 Dutch Videos About Youth and Family Support

|
We are looking for an experienced illustrator and 2D animator to create five short animated videos for APZW (Adardor Puur Zorg en Welzijn), a Dutch organisation supporting children, young people and families.
The series is called “Kijk verder dan gedrag” — “Look beyond behaviour”. It helps parents understand what may lie behind difficult behaviour and introduces our approach through recognisable everyday situations. We already have a detailed production handbook with Dutch voice-over scripts, scene descriptions, visual direction and delivery requirements. The project Five videos of approximately 65–75 seconds each: What does behaviour tell us? Safety first. An outburst starts earlier. Understanding behaviour while maintaining boundaries. Growing through practical experiences. The videos will be used on Instagram and our website, with versions for other social channels. Visual style We want original, handmade-looking 2D animation combining custom illustrations, pencil or chalk lines, subtle paper textures and restrained typography. A recurring hand-drawn “echo line” connects visible behaviour with underlying feelings and experiences. Characters should be warm, believable and respectful, with consistent design throughout the series. The pacing should feel calm and human. Please avoid generic corporate templates, stock-icon slideshows, cartoonish 3D characters and exaggerated emotional effects. AI may support preparation or technical tasks, but generated characters and text-to-video footage must not be used in the final visuals. Workflow We will start with one paid pilot video: Develop character designs and a few style frames. Create an animatic to check storytelling and timing. Complete the first video after approval. Build a reusable visual system and produce the remaining four videos. Please include approval stages and clearly defined revision rounds in your proposal. Language and audio All final voice-over, on-screen text and subtitles will be in Dutch. Communication during production can be in English. We prefer a human voice-over, potentially recorded by our founder. Please quote animation using supplied voice-over separately from any optional Dutch voice-over service. Subtle sound design and properly licensed background music should be included. Deliverables For each video: Vertical master: 9:16, 1080 × 1920, 30 fps. Approximately 30-second cutdown. 4:5 version. Versions with and without burned-in Dutch subtitles. Separate SRT subtitle file. Cover image. Organised, editable project files and linked assets. For the series: Reusable animation template. Character sheets and visual style library. Font, music and other asset licence information. Our preferred production tools are Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. Please explain your workflow and any alternatives you propose. Assets must be suitable for our commercial website and social media use. Timeline and proposal Our initial production plan allows approximately five weeks, depending on availability and feedback. Please propose a realistic schedule. Please include: Two or three relevant examples of your animation work. Your role in creating those examples. Your approach to the handmade visual style. A fixed price for the pilot and a separate total for all five videos, including the pilot. Included revisions, deliverables and any additional costs. Your availability and estimated delivery schedule. We are looking for someone who can translate sensitive subjects into clear, thoughtful visual stories and create a consistent style we can build on.

REELY LEGAL — EPISODE 4
“Enter at Your Own Risk” Target runtime: 80 seconds 0:00–0:08 — OPEN SCRIPT When you pay someone to scare you, restrain you, or put you in danger this Halloween, how much of your legal protection are you actually signing away? ANIMATION The animation appears with me at a desk posing the question, in real life. Black screen. Sounds first: With the “do you want to play a little game” audio from “Saw”. Then the screen fades to: ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK 0:08–0:19 — THE CONTRACT YOU DIDN'T SIGN SCRIPT Because when you buy a ticket to a haunted house or haunted theme park, you may also be entering a contract… without ever signing your name. That’s right, if the terms and conditions are reasonably accessible, clicking “Buy Tickets” can be enough. ANIMATION Close-up of phone. BUY TICKETS — $89.00 Finger moves toward button. Freeze one millimeter before contact. Camera zooms underneath the button into tiny hyperlinked TERMS & CONDITIONS. Camera then zooms back out as we watch the finger click “Buy Tickets”, and then we see a smaller screen appear and show a pen signing a contract on its own. 0:19–0:31 — WHAT DID YOU AGREE TO? SCRIPT You might be assuming certain risks; releasing the attraction from certain injury claims; or even agreeing to arbitration instead of court. But signing—or clicking—a waiver doesn't make every sentence in it enforceable. ANIMATION Three doors appear in a haunted hallway. ASSUMPTION OF RISK Door opens: I knowingly walk through fog, caution tape, darkness, and flashing lights. RELEASE OF LIABILITY Door opens: a lawsuit document appears, then is stamped RELEASED and throws itself in the trashcan. ARBITRATION We see me in a courtroom, which then disappears and is replaced by a conference table with an arbitrator between the parties. 0:31–0:41 — WHERE THE WAIVER GETS WEAKER SCRIPT Generally, the more extreme the conduct becomes, the less protection that piece of paper may provide. For example, negligence might be waived, but gross negligence most likely is not. So let's stress-test that. ANIMATION Create a horizontal escalating “danger meter”: INHERENT RISK → NEGLIGENCE → GROSS NEGLIGENCE → RECKLESSNESS → INTENTIONAL A waiver travels along beneath it. Changing in quality as it moves from left to right. At INHERENT RISK, the waiver is pristine. At NEGLIGENCE, it is slightly wrinkled. At GROSS NEGLIGENCE, it tears. At RECKLESSNESS, pieces fall away. At INTENTIONAL, it catches fire. Everything goes black. One remaining piece of burning paper floats downward. Then, boom: A huge waiver slams onto a wooden table. Title: MCKAMEY MANOR 0:41–0:55 — THE ULTIMATE WAIVER SCRIPT McKamey Manor is known as the most intense haunt of all time; with an equally intense, 40-page waiver and release in exchange for a $20,000 completion prize One version of McKamey Manor's waiver contemplated being buried under twelve feet of dirt and rock; submerged in sixty feet of water; having a tooth extracted without Novocain; being given medication causing hallucinations or sedation; and hundreds of pounds of chains that could admittedly crush or even kill you. ANIMATION: each one of these animations is paired with its corresponding sentence above. We're now literally traveling through the waiver. Each numbered section becomes a portal. §31: Paper transforms into soil. I drop beneath twelve feet of earth. Tiny air tube remains visible. §35: Page floods from top to bottom. Camera plunges rapidly toward a 60 FT depth marker. Breathing apparatus is yanked away. §59: Smash cut to ominous dentist chair. Pliers silhouette. Tooth icon cracks. §69: Pill grows to take over the entire screen, and we see another person place toss it in my mouth. §107: Heavy chains explode from the text and wrap around the document itself until the paper begins buckling. Then silence. 0:55–1:10 — THE WAIVER DISAGREES WITH ITSELF SCRIPT But here's where it gets legally fascinating: the waiver starts disagreeing with itself. Section 24 says you're never being held against your will, and Section 36 puts the responsibility on you to use the safe phrase. But Section 50 says: “There is no quitting unless serious physical or psychological injury is present.” And Section 99 says that no matter how many times you say you want out, you actually want the tour to continue. ANIMATION: Consider making this the section that we use to jump back to me, the live Shawn, delivering this message. Everything visual becomes cleaner and more forensic. Actual waiver page on screen. Left side: §24 “NEVER BEING HELD AGAINST THEIR WILL” Below: §36 SAFE PHRASE Green check marks. Then— OBJECTION. Red line slices vertically through screen. Right side: §50 “THERE IS NO QUITTING…” Then: §99 Words “I WANT OUT” appear from the participant. The waiver physically stamps over them: CONTINUE The two sides remain visible simultaneously so the audience can see the apparent tension themselves. 1:10–1:19 — AFTER YOU QUIT SCRIPT And Section 121 goes even further. It says even after you quit, the experience only “slowly ramps down”—while certain physical treatment may continue. So here's the real question: Can today's “yes” legally erase tomorrow's “no”? ANIMATION The cartoon version of me finally hits a big red button: I QUIT Everything freezes. For one beat, it appears finished. A stoplight appears, and frantically jumps back and forth from red to green. Then split screen: YESTERDAY: “I AGREE.” RIGHT NOW: “STOP.” The two statements collide and explode. 1:19–1:26 – CLOSE SCRIPT So this Halloween, remember: You can agree to take the risk. That doesn't necessarily mean they can do whatever they want. But you should always read what you are agreeing to. ANIMATION: Flash back to the first frame where I turned into a cartoon. I now turn back into a living human.

Title: 2D Animator for Educational Children's Music Series (Hybrid AI / 2D Pipeline)
We are seeking a talented 2D animator to bring our educational children’s music videos to life with fun animations for our songs. We want an efficient, consistent workflow: ideally an animator who leverages a hybrid pipeline (rigging in After Effects/Moho + AI tools for backgrounds or tweening) to deliver premium quality efficiently. STYLE & QUALITY REQUIREMENT: We have established, branded characters. Review our style reference here. * Please do not apply if you cannot draw or animate in this exact style/quality or better. Character consistency across every shot is non-negotiable. What You’ll Do: * Animate our branded characters with zero visual drift or anatomical morphing. * Flawlessly sync character acting, gestures, and pacing to our music and vocal tracks. * Ensure clear, precise lip-sync aligned with educational phonics clarity. * Create complementary background environments that match our brand aesthetic. We Provide: * Fixed character turnarounds and vector source files. * Studio-recorded audio with locked timecodes. * Storyboards and scene briefs. To Apply: 1. Link 2–3 portfolio samples showing 2D character animation tightly synced to music. 2. Briefly describe your pipeline for keeping character designs 100% consistent across scenes. 3. Confirm if you are open to a short 5-second test benchmark. 4. Confirm if you are able to provide a competitive price so we can produce a large number of ongoing videos over time.

We’re looking for a skilled AI video editor to create short-form social content for a home decor and lifestyle brand across TikTok and Instagram.
The role involves generating visual clips with AI tools, assembling them into polished 1–3 minute videos, layering provided narration, and refining the pacing so each video feels cohesive, engaging, and visually intentional. We’re starting with a smaller scope because we want to find the right creative fit before expanding the workload. Strong performance, consistency, and communication could lead to ongoing work and a larger weekly content volume. We care most about visual storytelling, pacing, scene selection, smooth transitions, and the ability to make AI-generated footage feel natural rather than disconnected or repetitive. You should be comfortable with Premiere Pro or CapCut and have hands-on experience with AI image or video generation tools. Experience creating ecommerce, home decor, interior design, lifestyle, or product-focused content is a plus. Please include a few relevant short-form editing examples and briefly mention the AI tools you currently use.
