I would require a hand-drawn, human-made artwork (absolutely no AI-generated elements). The book is 36 pages long, and I will require 18 illustrations (which includes front cover) aimed at children aged around 4-13 years old. The illustrations need to engage the readers/children’s growing minds and compliment the text beautifully.
It is a story which revolves around a young boy, aged 4-5 years old, who’s vivid imagination takes him into a magical forest exploring/finding his own kind of unicorns. He whole heartedly believes that unicorns ARE real – for real! The boy ends up having all kinds of adventures in the setting of a forest so I’ll require the illustrator to have a great imagination and skill to capture forest, its beings, unicorns, a tree house setting, boys home on the edge of the forest.
I’d like to know how illustrator imagines a boy (his pet accompanying him is a little bird) discovering 7 unicorns (all are different with their characteristics/looks) in the middle of the forest – how would this be captured within one illustration?

I am launching a new streetwear clothing brand called Rites of Wrath and I am looking to hire a highly skilled graphic illustrator to create an original, high-detail, dark-themed illustration for an upcoming clothing release. This project is for the main artwork design only — I do not need apparel mockups included. This is not a simple logo or typography task. This is a cinematic, story-driven, print-ready graphic intended to serve as a flagship visual for one of my first major drops. I am specifically seeking an artist with strong illustration fundamentals, experience in apparel graphics, and the ability to execute dramatic, high-contrast compositions with precise detail and controlled typography integration. The creative direction centers on a dark, ritualistic, cinematic battlefield aesthetic with strong symbolism and a clear focal-point composition. The core scene should depict a large field of slim, realistic katana swords planted into the ground, extending into the distance using atmospheric perspective and depth. All outer swords should be clean steel. One sword in the exact center foreground should be the visual focal point and must be visibly blood-covered on the blade only, with grounded splatter at the base for realism and impact. The katanas must be proportionally accurate and slender — not broad, not oversized fantasy blades — with realistic curvature and authentic silhouette. The composition should guide the viewer’s eye directly to the center blade using lighting, spacing, and contrast control. The mood should feel intense, restrained, and powerful rather than cartoonish or exaggerated. Typography must be integrated into the artwork and must read exactly: THE WRATH OF ONE CONQUERS MANY. The word WRATH must appear only once in the quote and must be colored red, while all other words should be an aged off-white, bone, parchment, or stone tone for contrast. The layout may be arched or structured but must remain readable and balanced for apparel printing. Do not duplicate the word WRATH anywhere else in the design. Typography should feel custom or heavily stylized — not default fonts — and should match a dark, gothic, engraved, or ritual-inspired aesthetic while remaining legible at print size. This artwork will be used for garment printing, so technical execution is critical. Final deliverables must include a print-ready high-resolution file at minimum 4500px on the longest side at 300 DPI, plus a transparent background version. Preferred formats include AI, PSD, or other layered source files so elements can be adjusted if needed. Text must be on a separate editable layer. Color contrast and separation must be clean enough for hoodie and t-shirt printing. Please include in your proposal examples of detailed illustration work, apparel graphics, or dark-themed compositions. Experience in streetwear, gothic, tattoo-style, metal, or cinematic illustration is a strong plus. When applying, briefly describe your workflow from concept sketch to final print-ready file, your turnaround time, and how many revision rounds you include. All work must be fully original — no stock art, no reused marketplace assets, and no AI-generated base images. I must receive full commercial usage rights upon final payment. It was a great start and seemed like it would go smoothly.
However, once I sent my first mock-up, he was unresponsive. He didn't answer any follow up messages.
Normally I'd be angrier about this sort of thing, but when I submitted my final designs he honored the contract and paid me for all my work. That's why I gave a more generous rating. There could have been things going on behind the scenes that I didn't know about.
But if I really was ghosted, that was unprofessional. There are other solutions if you don't like an initial mock-up.
