I am preparing to publish, via Amazon, a novel of some 250,000 words, titled simply “Einstein”, though it is not about Al. I need a front cover illustration, back cover with text only, and spine (for the paperback edition). I also need someone to prepare the text for publication both as an ebook and a paperback. The book will be text only, with a table of contents, and no illustrations. I have a very specific image in mind for the cover. I see the book itself, front, back, and spine, as “soft black” with white text and image—probably off white, so as to soften the black/white contrast. The image should show a young man at a computer, with the back of the computer monitor facing us, and the young man’s face shown full front rather than profile. To simplify matters, the computer modern should be a modern flat screen rather than the old cathode models, though the novel actually takes place in the late 1990s early 2000s. The young man should look like an “intense young genius”, with light-colored, longish, disheveled hair, not overly dramatic, somewhat overweight, no glasses, with a weakish chin half-covered with a three-day growth of sparse, light-colored beard. The eyebrows should be very light as well, because they’re supposed to be blond. Surrounding him is the outline of the profile of an attractive young woman, with her face to the right, slightly upturned. She has short, dark hair. This should be drawn so as not to obscure the drawing of the young man. This outline could be repeated, more softly, on the back cover, omitting the picture of the young man. The front cover text should simply be “EINSTEIN” in all caps with “A Novel by Alan Vanneman” in large and small caps underneath it. The spine should have the same text run horizontally along the spine, so that it can be read most easily when the book is resting on its side. The book’s dimensions should be 6x9, unless this would make the book too thick, in which case the dimensions could go up a notch. The paper should be off-white or ivory, with Times New Roman font. Because I have old eyes I like 12-point type. This will the ninth book I have published via Amazon. All of them can be found on my author’s page. (There is, fortunately, only one Alan Vanneman listed.) I have prepared both the back cover text and the incidental information for the interior of the book.
