He failed at every level of basic project management. He communicated an incorrect scope to the contractor, he left room for misunderstanding and did not follow any thorough protocol. He never secured a written agreement, signed drawings, or signed scope with the contractor. He allowed work to begin with no protections in place, leaving us exposed. When the work was done incorrectly, he acknowledged responsibility in writing and stated on Friday at around 3:00 PM ET that he would personally resolve the issue with the contractor. Instead, he canceled the Upwork contract without notice the following business day, abandoning the project and leaving us to clean up the mess. He is now denying responsibility despite clear written communication on Upwork stating the scope and his commitment to fix the issue. This is not a communication issue - this is gross negligence.
