Your job is to turn ideas, insights, and rough direction into clear, engaging, high-quality emails that readers genuinely look forward to opening and reading.
This is not a role for generic copywriters or AI-only output. The writing needs to feel human, thoughtful, and grounded in real experience with writing, books, or publishing.
What you’ll be doing"
- Writing 1 to 2 high-quality newsletter per week
- Turning rough ideas, bullet points, transcripts, or Looms into a polished email
- Writing in a clear, conversational, authoritative tone (British English)
- Delivering genuine value first, with soft, natural CTAs where appropriate
- Occasionally adapting YouTube ideas or themes into newsletter format
- Editing for clarity, structure, and flow (not just grammar)
What makes a great newsletter for us
- It teaches something useful or reframes a common mistake
- It feels like advice from someone experienced, not “marketing copy”
- It respects the reader’s intelligence
- It avoids hype, fluff, and buzzwords
- It is concise but thoughtful
Required experience
- Strong writing skills in British English
- Experience writing long-form content (newsletters, essays, blogs, or editorial)
- A genuine interest in writing, books, storytelling, or publishing
- Ability to write for an older, thoughtful audience (not TikTok-style copy)
- Comfort working from light briefs rather than rigid templates
Nice to have (but not required)
- Background in writing, editing, publishing, or journalism
- Experience writing Substack-style newsletters
- Familiarity with author audiences or creative professionals

- Feedback will be direct and constructive
This starts as a small, focused role but can grow into a bigger content position if it’s a strong fit

Patrick’s communication was sloppy, and he was persistently looking for ways to obstruct payment. He wanted to use a bonus as part-payment instead of placing the full sum in escrow. Then he deliberately funded a milestone for an incorrect amount. Ultimately, he tried to demand a refund when there were no grounds for one. He also tried to blame me for his own errors. Overall, I found Patrick thoroughly dishonest.
