We need a fast, reliable Shopify expert to take ownership of the backend, catalog, integrations, and logistics side of an established Shopify store. Our new theme is already being built by a designer, so this is not a front-end or design role. What we need is someone who knows the operational side of Shopify inside out: reorganising a large catalog, sorting out SKUs and product data, handling integrations and logistics, and putting Shopify's newest AI tools to work. If you can also help with the odd design or UX fix, great, but world-class design is not what we are hiring for here.

The situation:
Over time, the backend of our store has become disorganised. Our catalog has grown into a sprawling, messy set of SKUs and products that are all over the place and need sorting out properly. This is a longstanding issue on our own side, not something a recent designer caused. It is the main job: someone to come in, take it in hand, and get our SKUs, products, and collections clean and well organised, then keep our integrations and logistics running properly on top of that.

What you will do:

SKU and catalog reorganisation (the main job)
- Reorganise a large, messy catalog by hand: cull, merge, and archive products and variants
- Sort out a sprawling SKU and product-data setup so it is consistent and easy to manage
- Restructure collections and product organisation so the store is easy to shop
- Clean up tags, product types, and metafields for consistency
- Set up URL redirects when products or pages are removed or changed, so links and SEO are not broken
- Work at scale using bulk editing and bulk import/export tools

Logistics, shipping, and fulfilment (expert level)
- Own the full shipping configuration: shipping zones, rates, weight-based and price-based rates, free shipping thresholds, and live carrier-calculated rates
- Integrate and manage carriers and couriers, including label printing, live tracking, and rate accuracy
- Build and connect third-party logistics (3PL) and warehouse integrations
- Real-time inventory sync across multiple locations, with safety stock so we never oversell
- Automated order routing and fulfilment rules, including Shopify Flow automations for fulfilment
- Set up returns and exchanges (returns portal, return rules, and any returns app)
- Handle international shipping properly: markets, duties and taxes, and customs-ready order data

Integrations and apps
- Connect the systems we rely on: 3PL, warehouse, inventory, or ERP software, and keep data flowing cleanly between them
- Audit the current app stack, remove anything unused or slowing the store, and add and configure apps to complete functionality
- Own full admin configuration where needed: settings, products, collections, shipping, policies, customer accounts
- Keep the store fast and improve mobile performance (most of our traffic and sales are on mobile)

Shopify AI tools (including the newest features)
- Confident, hands-on use of Shopify Magic for content, product descriptions, attributes, and image work
- Use Sidekick for insights, reporting, automation, and day-to-day efficiency
- Build automations with Shopify Flow
- Put Shopify's newest AI and agentic commerce features to work, and keep up with new releases as they land, so the brand performs well wherever AI assistants and shopping agents surface our products

Ideal candidate:
- Expert at hands-on Shopify backend and catalog work: reorganising large, messy catalogs, culling and merging SKUs, and restructuring collections, tags, product types, and metafields, with redirects handled properly
- Expert in logistics and shipping on Shopify: rates and zones, carrier and 3PL integrations, multi-location inventory, fulfilment automation, and returns
- Strong with integrations and apps: connecting 3PL, warehouse, inventory, or ERP systems, and auditing and configuring the app stack
- Confident with Shopify's newest AI tools (Magic, Sidekick, Flow, and the latest AI and agentic commerce features) and actively keeps up with new releases

I need someone for the following:

- Validate/Implement Google Analytics 4 on four sites.
- I think the will be implementation on just ONE site, but you would need to confirm this after taking a look at all four.
- Depending on what I believe you will find, the ONE site that needs the implementation should have the same implementation as the other four, but we would need to discuss this post audit of the four sites.
- Validate/Implement GTM on four sites.
- We seem to have multiple GTMs created (not necessarily implemented) on one of sites (just one on the other three). For this one site, I would want either all bar one of the GTMs stripped out (and deleted) and the one remaining one set up fully and properly, or all old ones stripped out (and deleted), and a new one implemented.
- Validate/Implement Google Ads Tracking on two sites.

You must have good experience of Shopify (Plus), or explain why it is not necessary. The reason being you will be given the necessary permissions to make the necessary code changes on our sites, and I need to be sure you have done this before on a Shopify site.

Actioning all and any of the above actions would be subject to your advice. I am happy to be told I have things wrong.

This is a one off project to implement and validate Google Analytics 4, GTM and Google Ads Tracking. Once completed, there is no ongoing work, currently.
