About the Business

KVB in Color is a photography-led creative studio built on the belief that visual storytelling matters.

At its core, KVB in Color exists to help people preserve, celebrate, and communicate what is meaningful to them. While photography is the foundation of the business, services also include graphic design (print and digital), illustration, brand support, website creation, marketing materials, visual content creation, and strategic creative projects.

My background combines photography, design, marketing, communications, and storytelling. I enjoy helping people and organizations bring ideas to life visually, whether through a portrait session, a visual identity, a marketing campaign, or a custom creative project. While the business may continue to evolve and expand over time, photography will remain the heart of what I do.

Photography Philosophy

My philosophy as a photographer shapes everything I create.

I believe photographs become more valuable over time. A portrait, gathering, milestone, or ordinary day may one day carry significance that no one could have predicted when the photograph was taken. Because of that, I approach photography with a deep sense of responsibility. My goal is not simply to create beautiful images, but to create photographs that feel authentic, thoughtful, and lasting.

I care deeply about documenting people honestly and respectfully. I want clients to recognize themselves in their images and feel that they were seen accurately. I am less interested in creating a heavily curated version of reality and more interested in preserving meaningful moments in a way that will still resonate years from now.

That same philosophy extends into my creative work. Whether I am photographing a family, creating a visual identity, designing a campaign, or producing marketing materials, I am helping clients tell stories that matter.

The Meaning Behind "In Color"

The name KVB in Color is intentional and reflects an important part of my creative philosophy.

I love color. I believe color is one of the most powerful tools available to photographers and designers, and I believe the world is already full of beautiful color worth preserving.

In my photography, I strive for images that feel vibrant, natural, and true to life. Rather than heavily muting or stylizing color, I aim to preserve the richness and character that already exist in a scene. My editing style emphasizes realistic color, accurate skin tones, and imagery that feels timeless rather than trendy.

That same appreciation for color carries into my design work. I am comfortable using color intentionally and confidently to create energy, warmth, personality, and visual interest. While I value clean design and strong fundamentals, I do not gravitate toward aesthetics that feel overly muted, sterile, or trend-driven.

Color is not simply a visual preference for me—it is part of how I tell stories.

What I'm Looking For

I am seeking a complete visual identity that feels professional, creative, distinctive, and timeless.

The brand should communicate that I am a photographer first, while also supporting broader creative services under a single cohesive identity.

Design Direction

I am open to creative exploration and do not want to dictate every design decision. However, there are a few important principles I would like the identity to reflect:

• Photography is the heart of the business, but storytelling is the mission.
• Authenticity is more important than perfection.
• The brand should feel human and personal, not corporate or agency-like.
• Color should be embraced thoughtfully and confidently.
• The visual identity should feel professional without relying on current luxury branding trends.

One specific note: please do not interpret "professional" as beige. This is a project where I encourage you to use color. :)

Many contemporary creative brands rely heavily on neutral palettes, muted tones, and minimalist luxury aesthetics. While those approaches can be beautiful, they do not reflect my personality or my work. I would like the brand to feel polished and sophisticated while still celebrating color, creativity, warmth, and individuality.

Ultimately, I want a brand that feels like a natural extension of how I photograph, design, and tell stories: authentic, vibrant, thoughtful, and built to last.

While the logo is an important part of this project, I am ultimately seeking a complete brand identity system rather than a standalone logo. I want the final identity to support both the photography side of the business and the broader creative services offered under the KVB in Color name.

One additional note: the logo does not need to literally incorporate a camera, lens, aperture, shutter icon, or other traditional photography symbols. While photography is the foundation of my business, I am more interested in visual concepts that communicate creativity, storytelling, color, authenticity, and craftsmanship. I am open to photography-inspired concepts if they are thoughtfully executed, but I would prefer to avoid designs that immediately read as generic photography logos.

I'm looking for a thumbnail designer for an OFTV travel documentary series called 'My Liverpool'. This is the first episode of a series called 'Unscripted'.

The brief:

I'll be sending you three files —
1. A photo of me (shirtless, plain background, high resolution)
2. A Liverpool skyline image
3. An example thumbnail from OFTV showing the style of the platform

What I need:
A single thumbnail that combines all three elements seamlessly — not a photo with text dropped on top, but a fully composed, designed image where everything feels like it belongs together.

Style direction:
— Masculine, clean, premium. Think BBC or Channel 4 documentary title card.
— Bold typography, one consistent font treatment throughout. No mixed styles, no coloured boxes around text, no drop shadows.
— The text should read: MY LIVERPOOL
— My photo should be cut out cleanly and integrated naturally into the composition — no AI enhancement or processing of the photo. Use it exactly as shot.
— The overall feel should reflect the subject: a 43-year-old actor and presenter making a serious, personal documentary about his city. Not a vlog. Not a fitness influencer thumbnail. Confident and considered.

I am working on designing a logo and social media branding for a university student-focused recycling program.

The umbrella organization and logo are established, along with the name of the initiative. The overall concept and direction for our logo are largely established, and we're primarily looking for refinement, vector cleanup, and a polished final brand identity system. I've attached several reference images that show the direction we'd like to move forward with. Our concept is a golf apparel brand.

1. Hummingbird
The first attachment is the hummingbird shape we'd like to use as the basis for the final mark.
This originated as a simple hand sketch my husband created, and we've found that it captures the personality and posture we're looking for. We'd love for you to refine and digitize the linework while preserving the overall character, proportions, and charm of the original sketch.
Our goal is a polished, professional mark that remains distinctive, memorable, and true to the spirit of the original drawing.

2. G Monogram
We've made a very subtle adjustment to the original font's "g" by slightly elongating it vertically to improve readability while maintaining the original elegance and character of the letterform.
We also like the relationship between the hummingbird and the "g," with the bird hovering just above the diagonal stroke so the two elements feel connected without actually touching.

3. Wordmark Weight & Spacing
One of the attachments shows the weight and spacing we're currently gravitating toward.
We've slightly increased the weight from the original font because the brand will primarily live on apparel and headwear. We'd appreciate your feedback on whether the current weight feels balanced and appropriate, or if you see opportunities for refinement.

We are a Personal Care, Skincare, Fragrance Brand and we need to have our packaging design, creation redone.

We have 3 fragrances, each fragrance at present has 10 SKU's which all need packaging and retail box.

I have created a logo direction for a new carpet and upholstery cleaning business, and I’m fairly happy with the overall concept.

I am not looking for a full redesign or lots of new logo concepts. I’m looking for a designer with a strong eye for typography, spacing, balance, icon placement, and practical logo usability to refine the existing horizontal logo.

The logo needs to feel clean, professional, premium, and reliable — not cheap, generic, or overly corporate. It also needs to work well on a van, uniform, website, social media, print materials, and invoices.

For this first stage, I only want the main horizontal logo refined. The aim is to improve what already exists, not start again from scratch.
